New Car Deatiling/ Dawn or not

Does a new car come waxed? I am going to detatail my new car but am not sure if i should use dawn to remove any poss wax that may be on the paint. Not that its a big deal to dawn but it takes time, especially when the car is already very clean. I want to clay, klasse aio, sg x 3, and add some kind of a topper. Quiestions : Should i dawn? Can i use a polymer topper to klasse sg? -to be able to throw another layer of the polymer topper after weekly washes, instead of having to stripp everything off in order to detail again. Will a polymer top klasse or is the bonding going to be a problem? Any advise is appreciated.... Thanks

If you're using AIO, then there should be no need to wash with Dawn (or use Prep-solve, IPA/water, etc.); AIO should leave a nice, clean surface for your SG to bond to. Just wash with a car wash shampoo of your choice, then go ahead with your clay/AIO/SG plan.

What about topping with a polymer? What i want is to be able to wash weelky and when i need to, use polymer to give it that xtra shine again. I dont want to have to use a carnuba, then have to remove everything and start from scratch when i want that nice shine again.

Keep the Dawn under the kitchen counter. If you wash with regular car shampoo, clay, and use AIO, everything you wish to be gone will be gone. AIO is some amazing stuff.

If you are all about the SG with polymer topper, many here use UPP (it's Four Star, not Platinum) as the last step. Give yourself a couple of SG coats first to see if you don't like the look. Some say 24 hours between coats of SG, some say a week. On my Klasse car, I waited three days between coats as a nice compromise. No topper for me. Once the topper, whether carnuba or polymer, is applied, you will need to AIO to reapply more SG.

I forget where I saw it...it is on an Autopian's signature...say's something like "keep Dawn in the kitchen"!!

thinksnow is 100% correct. If you use a good CAR SHAMPOO, follow with a clay process then use an excellent pre-sealant treatment like AIO you'll be good to go.:xyxthumbs

See my sig. :)

No need for Dawn if you are not using Zaino, and also if you are going to use AIO and SG as a system.

I would also agree with the suggestion to use UPP if you don't like the SG look. I personally like SG on light coloured cars, and UPP on dark coloured more. But the difference isn't night and day. It's just if you are Autopian. :p

Scrap dawn, honestly, it doesn't remove any wax unless your surface only gets waxed with TW or something once a year... Even fresh TW can't be removed with a single Dawn wash.
