i have been detailing cars for quite a while now but have never figured out how to get seat belts really clean. i have a voyager that we use to run around in at the shop and it would be the perfect test vehicle. the seat belts are a very light gray and are covered in greese from where i have no clue. any ideas?

thanks for any and all help, sean

Seatblet cleaning should be treated with care, since they protect the occupants. Using too harsh of a chemical may alter the strength of the belt. I would clean it according to the manufacturer's recommendation. You really answer your question I suggest you use a degreaser that is biodegradable and is safe to use on delecate fabric.

i use meguiar's all purpose cleaner plus. you will need to read the bottle and dilute the solution yourself, but it works great.

And as tip top has stated, be careful in what you use to clean the seat belt, you don't want to have a liability issue on your hand.

you guys seat belt cleaning is so easy

first take your interior shampoo or your allpurpose cleaner and pull theseat belt out of the door jamb close door not on latch and spray down belt. let soak for a little an then just come back and pressure wash them till there clean.sparkling clean if there greasy use degreaser and pressure wash. satch out for your hands and so both sides front and back.theres the best tip you'll ever get.:bow

Hey Dale, How do you keep the cleaner from streaking, or staining the paint? I know keep it wet and all that, but It still concerns me. How long till the belts are dry? I usually spray cleaner on, and blow the dirt out with a compressor, or try to extract. Thanks

if you overspray the belt spray off the paint that way there won't be any staining if you use a shampoo it won't stain for greasy belts use degreaser and try to just spray the belt, you only need it to set up untill you get the other belt done then use your pressure washer to clean them hold them with one hand and use the other for P>W them hold them against the paint that way there not flapping in the wind when your P>W them. they dry pretty fast no more than 30-45 minutes. Good luck

I spray the seatbelt with all purpose cleaner, use the scrub brush and use the carpet extractor to extrac all the dirt and makes the seatbelt almost dry.

Hot steam from my steam vapor cleaner works great for belts.

I hardly ever have to use a cleaner but if I do I use 303's carpet and fabric spot cleaner. Belts should be kept OUT of its retractable area while it dries and this can be done by drawing the entire seat belt out and placing a clothes pin at the top (or something that stops it from retracting back in ) and clean it.

Hope that helps,

Anthony

I will have the opportunity to detail a black 2011 Camaro once the weather breaks. It will be the car's first detail ever. I plan to wash, clay, wash, polish with BFEP (if necessary), and LSP is BFWD. Anyone know if GM paint is hard or soft?

Depends.

I did a red jewel tintcoat (metallic red) one and the paint was definitely on the harder side. I also did a non metallic black on and the paint was pretty soft but not problematic. You should be fine.
