new business questions...

hello. i am somewhat new to the forum. my sons and i are considering a mobile detailing business. i have a couple of "dumb" questions. when going to a customers home to detail, do any of them object or monitor your water usage? i mean someone may have expected you to have a van with your own water tanks or they may monitor the water usage, or expect some sort of price cut for using "too much" of their water. also, has anyone ever accussed you of putting a scratch on their car that "wasn't there before you touched it"? is insurance a must have? sorry for the long post and thanks.

There are a few thing you can do to prevent problems.

1. Inform the customer ahead of time, that you will need access to water & electric. Tell the customer you will only use what is needed to do that car. This will give the customer a heads up that you will need water

2. Get yourself a vehicle checkin report. This will cover your @$$.

Before you even begin to wash the car, go over the car with the customer pointing out all swirl marks, scratches, ding & dents, interior burns, and whatever else is dmg'd on the car. Then complete the vehicle check-in form and you have the customer sign the form, then you sign the form and give a carbon copy to the customer.

3. Insurance would be suggested, it covers you just in case you make a mistake on that 80,000 car.

If you need any other help with the start up of your business let me know, i will be glad to share some of my marketing and business forms i have that can really help you out.
