new baby

I really dont like Meguiars #7. I found it very very hard to use even when used properly. If I do a few square inch sections at a time its ok, but I dont want to take 2 or 3 days just to polish a vehicle.....

I also dont really like wheel cleaners. I have yet to find any cleaner that actually worked halfways decent. I've tried Armorall, Meguiars, Eagle 1, Re-New, none of them did anything. I thought the Eagle 1 might actually work since it is somewhat acidic, since I have brake dust down in the spokes of my rims thats really hard to get to. I tried it and it barely did anything. Maybe I havent given it a fair chance, since I've only used it on one set of rims.

I have always had a hard time with removal of #7. I find 3M IHG much easier to work with, although I rarely go that ( glaze ) route anymore .

The other product(s) I despise are the tins of Turtle Wax Polishing compound and rubbing compound. I used these years ago when I didn't know better, before I even got into detailing seriously. Once you go to 3M stuff, those products pale in comparison .

Oh yes, and cheap Wal-Mart micro fiber towels. They point out to me just how good a Miracle Towel really is. You really do get what you pay for MF towel wise.

Yeah, please post. I've heard it too, but would like to see a "real" article on it. I'm still trying to imagine how silicone could make it into your air intake, survive combustion, and make it through the exhaust system to the O2 sensor. Your article should explain all that. Thanks. [/b]</blockquote>
I heard about this too, if you are using a K&N filter, and not using the proper oils, those can ruin th MAF sensor. As far as messing up an O2 sensor, I think it will only happen to those that use brake cleaner as a throttle body cleaner. ( Like my friend suggested, but I went with the O2 sensor safe Carb Cleaner )

Kinda long,

Any armor all product and any turtle wax product apart from their applicators.

Mother's back to black because it runs and is impossible to get right because of the temp here in Florida and it interferes with my Black Again dulling it after it wears off.

I don't like Black Magic tire dressing because it ruined the white lettering on my dads dullers to the point that i could pull off the individual letters.

Anything in Meguiars red bottles, Meguiars hot wheels cleaner and Mothers products, blue coral products especially thier plastic polish and car wash, RainX products, Westleys window cleaner, Kiwi Chenile mitts, california dusters-better for the home oh and Restore and STP oil treatment because afterwards i needed a new rear main oil seal.

What other problems can silicone-based products cause?

Oxygen sensors, which are part of the vehicle's emission-control system, are poisoned by silicone-based products. Silicone should never be used under the hood of a car.

Silicone products get sucked into oxygen sensors, and this can affect vehicle performance. Oxygen sensors cost roughly $200 to replace. [/b]</blockquote>DK,

Do you happen to know, are they referring only to the "evil" silicone oils that most of us avoid (i.e., Armor All), or does this also include PDMS dressings?

Curious,
Tort

I never used Armor All, so I am just wondering why it is so bad. Don't worry, I don't plan on using it soon! I just want to know what makes it so bad. Anybody?

I'm curious too. I would like to see an automobile manufacturer TSB regarding the usage of silicone based "detailing" products. I have definitely seen warnings based on using gasket makers which contain silicone when they are used in-line with the intake system. I certainly wouldnt spray silicone into the throttle body, or use a silicone based oil on my K&N.

If someone can produce a technical reference to "exterior detailing" products causing the so-called O2 sensor failure, I'd love to see it. Until then, I think it's a stretch.

Does this "Professional Detailing Magazine" receive advertising revenue from any detailing suppliers or retailers?

I have had some excellent results with #7 and #26 paste wax, as well as the liquid. I have also found that the Endurance can endure for some time, if used correctly, and some people that like the "ghetto shine" on their tires ask me to get their tires as shiny as possible, and I used 2 or 3 coats of the Endurance Hi-Gloss to get the tires super wet looking. It is slimey, however. In defense of Rain-X, this product isn't the best, but it can have good results if applied before washing the car.

Hmmm... products I hate. Bleche-white Tire Cleaner is absolutely horrible, for most tires. It makes tires grey and dull, and it just smells like it will rot your tires. Very dangerous stuff. I did, however, have good results with it once on some old filthy tires which needed the strongest thing possible (it was that red Mazda 323 in the post "0-60-sometimes, Dull and faded to wet looking- 5 hours). I then coated the tires with a few coats of Turtle Wax Tire Wax. Mother's Back to Black is aweful, like they have said. Most glass cleaners streak like crazy, which is why Stoner's and Eagle One are the only ones I will ever use. The old Eagle One A2Z wheel cleaner was too acidic, but the new one, which I tried this weekend, seems much safer and works great on wheels and tires.

eagle one cleaner wax was a terrible buy on my behalf...lasted one wash maybe, no beading...was my first time waxing...now i strictly three-step my car or use a high quality carnauba. Black magic tire spray sucks too...slings badly and has petroleum distillates...yuck!

Nu-Finish liquid polish, it is ok for use on beaters because it is very harmful. It must have alot of petrol chemicals in it, because petrol was all i could smell the one time i used it.

Purple Power. Takes your breath, makes hands raw, burns skin, streaks paint, etc... Some of my dealers swear by it, but I wouldnt give you 5.00 for a truckload.

Amen to that one. That stuff sucks big time. I've had windex take out stains better than that purple crap. I just threw away half a bottle of that because I knew I wouldn't use it for anything and it was taking up room.

Anyone like G-27. What a joke? I also dislike most protectants, especially Armorall. Also that Westley's bleach white product. Keep that stuff away from me please. Laters

Any wax that leaves white residue. No reason at all for that to happen anymore.

I am not fond of the tire shine products that leave that unnatural greasy shine. I had a customer let his daughter use it in the interior of his Cadillac STS and she used it on the leather seats along with the vinyl. Stuff attracts dust like crazy and was a pain to get off.

GS27, Be one of the fist 100 people to order and get a second tube for free. GS27 what a scam, Love when they key the white Mustang and say would you do this to your new car?

I think Jngrbrdman likes this stuff? There are a couple of people here who use it . . . I haven't tried it so can't comment.

Well , she is not really my baby but a customers of mine . But I get to take care of her :D She is pretty cute so I thought I would share !

It really was clean to start with except for some deep swirls in the paint that I polished out . The interior was just a vacume and the engine I just dusted off .

This really isnt a write up but if you have any questions about products or proccess just ask.

I hope you can veiw it , I just started this website to have a place to put some detailing pics. It will be a work in progress! Let me know if its veiwable ,thanks! Or I guess you can become a member if you like too .

Being trusted with a baby like that says a lot about your trustworthiness.
