Never washed 7 yr old Black Totoya truck help ?

The more I think about this the more you are 100% correct...[about not doing a big detail on it]....

I'm pleasantly surprised that, !here at Autopia!, this suggestion was even put forth, let alone that it'd gaining traction! With *one* exception, I've given up doing "gift details".

I wish someone warned me. Worst part is e person didn't even make any attempts to keep it up.

This is just my opinion and I know you are trying to be nice and give him the gift of a detail but it doesn't make sense to me that you are attempting this if he isn't going to make the effort to keep it clean after you detail it. I would suggest if you do this maybe also give him the gift of training or showing him how to care for it otherwise I think you are wasting your time. Again just my opinion. Good luck with your endeavor.

Some vehicles are too far gone and actually look better dirty and this sounds like one of them. Never washed in 7 years?:o

Maybe there is something that he cares about that you could detail for him like his shoes or something!;)

You need to post the pics. But what you really need, is "Paint rejuvenation" by way of someone who is versed in Rotary polishing. I do plenty of BLACK. And that Toyota likely has very good paint under all that nasty treatment over the years. If the owner doesn't care just do what you can. I love the wrecks....as they yield me the best, well you know. Nine out of ten times I can make any Toyota glow. Toyotas are painted very well. Hard clear to buff but if you know how it should buff up.

That is a 350.00 dollar gift done correctly. Your a nice guy for sure. Take him to a burger joint instead. take your car if his truck isn't looking the part. Just kidding! But don't you hate a scuzzie car??? Some of my buddies drive real traps. You figure even a junk could be clean and presentable.

That you ALL for your comments. I didnt touch the truck but i did teach him how to properly wash / Clay / Wax his wifes car instead. The clay bar is SHOT and there was still spots that needed more attention. I finished with Collonite 845 and it almost seemed like the wax was SUCKED INTO THE PAINT. It was a 2-3 year old car thats never been waxed but gone through the car wash on occasion. It needs a good polish to remove the bug bomb residue but it looks way better than before we started. The sad part is that I am sure this car will never be waxed again. :( It hurts spending only 2-3 hours on a simple detail knowing that it will never look the same again and the owner doesnt care i could only imagine if i broke out all of my products and went to town spening the entire day fixing something that will go to hell afterward.

silver2kws6- That sounds like a good resolution to the whole thing, especially since you ended up feeling glad that you didn't do more.
