Need Wax Recommendations

I'm in need of of some recommendations for a new wax.

Here's what I've used/been using, and results:

Mothers Reflections Liquid Wax

- Likes: Very, very nice results. This is by far my favorite. I can apply to the entire car, let cure overnight, and comeback when I have to to buff out a panel at a time. Not much residue, easy to buff off, and the results are very nice.

- Cons: Seems like you need to really wet the applicator first (either dunk in water and wring it out, or spritz it with a spray detailer. This is probably my main complaint, as it takes a lot of effort to apply by hand to spread it out.

- Durability: Seems pretty good. If I could find a good spray wax I could settle on this combo for a long time.

(I like this, but I'm looking for something that might give me the edge over Mothers)

S100 Paste Wax

- Likes: Easy on, easy off. I don't think there's anything easier to apply.

- Cons: Doesn't last too long.

Tried these others: Blitz 1000 Grand paste, Pinnacle Souveran, and while they're very good products, I just didn't care for the experience.

I'm thinking of trying Natty's Blue, or possibly one of the Collinite products as I see lots of users for these.

Can anyone recommend either of these and why you like them?

Also for spray-ons, what do you like? I've got AW, but I'm curious about more carnuba based products like OCW, or even Griot's Garage Spray-On Wax.

If you like S100 you may want to try P21S. As of a few years ago, they are different products. Nattys works very well. Shame your not in Tampa, we are doing a product testing for about 10 of them this saturday. My 3 favorite paste waxes are P21S, CG 50/50, and Blackfire Ivory Paste wax. The Blackfire is as nice as anything I have ever used.

I get the feeling you wouldn't be a huge Collinite fan... it's probably the most difficult high-quality wax to remove. Natty's Blue or Danase Paste are both good picks, but as of right now my personal favorite is CG 5050.

Try applying the S100 super thin and allow it to dry (instead of WOWO). This seems to make it last as long as the average paste for me.

I don't know about the paste, but the 845 IW is very easy to remove. Try the Collinite 845 wax, you won't regret it!

I decided to try Natty's Blue for my next step. Looks like a good all around product that people like. My biggest hurdle with the products requiring time is just that - TIME!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

You will enjoy your nattys blue. For darker cars, I really like it. For lighter cars, I like the regular Nattys.

Stick with the Reflections...you'd be hard-pressed to beat it at any price. :up

I've never had application problems with it. In fact its one of the easiest I've tried. Can't explain your expereince. Whatever you do, dont dunk it in water. Just use more wax on the applicator. BTW, what sort of applicator are you using? The best ones are the round yellow foam applicators. Very inexpensive but excellent.

Also, you don't have to let it cure overnight. Apply it to the whole car and when you've finished, go back to the start and remove. It should be that easy. Don't wet the car for 12 hours until the film crosslinks (cures).

You know....I'm buying another bottle of Reflections just because I've had such good luck with it. And it smells awesome....it's almost like a cologne scent.

My approach with applying to the whole car first and let it haze is the timing. Having kids and yard and child #3 on the way, time is precious. I have time to slap a coat on the car, put in the garage and let it haze, go wash the kids with the foam gun I MEAN bathe them in the tub, storytime, to bed, back to the car to finish it.

Sorry....and I generally use the little terry cloth covered applicators....they work very well. :D

I would suggest the yellow foam ones. You'll thank me later (with Scotch Whisky if you like). :woot2:

They will halve your application time, use less product, reduce the risk of marring, apply easier and smoother and last longer. Get the hint? :chuckle:

With your time constraints, you're better off sticking to Reflections. It is THE easiest wax to buff off that I've ever tried. If you're going to leave it overnight, then this is the one to use...apart from the fact it looks totally killer. :getdown

I follow, mate.....;)....now as far as shipping costs for bottles of "detailing booster"....let me look into that......

ROFL

DigiDan: After using it a couple of weeks I'd say you're a prime candidate for the Mothers Reflections Spray Wax/Booster. Use after washes, its super easy (QD easy).

I use mine to take off Natty's with and the look it produces is KILLER. Besides, it lets the Natty's come off nice and smooth after its cured.

I admit I have some serious issues with the Reflections Spray wax. FYI, I bought this bottle last year and never used it. VERY thick stuff...like spraying Crisco or something of equal consistency.

I followed the directions, spray and wipe, let the haze form...etc. I did the entire car, let it haze, and when I went back to wipe it off, spray wax had hardened to a near-unremoveable substance. The only way I get buff it off was to use some other spray detailer to reactivate it, and then use more MFs to wipe it all off.

I'm thinking of sticking with AW for a LSP/spray product. I'm wondering if anyone has used Griot's Garage Spray-On Wax, and what their thoughts were?
