Need to Repaint.

Well, the PT Crusier hood is beyond correction, and will need to be repainted. It's a black hood. I want a decent paint job on this, but can't get to the shop until Friday to get a quote. Does anyone here have any idea what this might cost me? I'm on pins and needles wanting to find out. Thanks!

Labor cost varies from city to city and materials costs vary from brand to brand.

I can tell you that I had a bumper stripped and repainted recently and it was $830.27, but it was a high end place that does very good work. I would expect at your cheapo paint shop it would have been as low as $500.

If you know someone who owns a shop/will work for cash, 300ish. If you don't know anyone, but you get a decent shop to do a decent job, 500ish. Ask around for references, theres a place by me that would do world-class work for 400 or so. Thats just for my area though, if you live in Miami it might be cheaper, if you live in LA it might be crazy expensive (800 is not out of the question).

Well, apparently bad luck comes in threes. My PT has to have the hood repainted because I couldn't correct my newbie mistake. Then the loaner car I borrowed from my parents had the battery die and the air go out (which stinks because it's a newer trailblazer with less than 60k on the clock, and black leather gets pretty darn hot when it's 90+ outside). Then to top it off, last night my grandpa backed into my Mustang with his truck! So now that will need a new passenger side door and work done on the front! So given this I think I would be able to get a shop to cut me a rate on the PT hood if I pay them cash for that PT and give them the job on the Mustang? I'm just wondering if I could get a better rate.

Man !!! Here in Istanbul you can get a whole car painted with a couple of more bucks !!! I had my Hyundai Starex painted all over due to some psycho who scratched the crap out of it last year and it cost me something like $650... For those who never saw one, a Starex is almost twice as big as a Chrysler Voyager or alike...

The end result was spectacular... You cannot tell if it is repainted or not...

I *think* you should call the shop and ask...I mean this the nicest way possible but: How in the world would we know if the shop would "cut you a deal"? All shops are different, all shops charge different rates for the same job...
