Need suggestions for a black acura

I just bought a 2005 Acura TL and it is Nighthawk Black Pearl. The minute I leave the dealer im going to go detail it. I am gonna wash it and clay and wash again but what would be a good combo to apply after the wash and clay. The things im looking for are good protection from a sealant and then ill probably apply a new carnuba coat every week or 2. What are some of your favorite products for black paint and which ones do you apply with the PC. And I suck at the abbreviations for products so if you could just type the names i would appreciate it. Thanks for all your help. Kyle

I have an 03 TL-S that I'll probably trade in for a new TL next year.



Black is a great choice and guaranteed to drive you nuts in keeping it looking "showroom", ah, but what a reward when it's swirl free and ultra shiney ! :xyxthumbs



If you want to go with a sealant then my choice would be UPP. After that you can't go wrong with Pinnacle Souveran, a terrific, if not costly, carnuba that's well worth it.



However, if it was my car I would use Clearkote's Vanilla Moose followed by their Carunaba Moose Wax or Poorboy's EX. Both are winners.



I'm sure you'll get plenty of good advice here at Autopia.

If you are going to top it, any good sealant should do the job. My personal preference would be AIO/SGx2 and then the wax of your choice.

my initial thought was AIO topped with P21S, and what is the best car wash soap to use to clean the car of every thing besides Dawn dish soap?

Congrats, very nice car!:up AIO topped w/P21S will be very reflective if that's what you're after. P21S makes a very good waxh shampoo. For less $$ I like Meg's NXT or Gold Class soap. Keep the Dawn for the dishes.
 
I had a nighthawk black pearl MDX and I can tell you that UPP is great on metallic colors. It will make the blue metallic really pop, as least that was my opinion.

If you are going to AIO, don't bother using anything like Dawn. The AIO will take it down to bare paint anyway.
 
Wow that is a pretty sweet ride you got there. You will love the way klasse AIO looks on black .with the pc easy to apply and easy to remove with a MF ,just find a sealant you like and you are all set! I use Zaino. try a few until you find what you like
 
We just did my neighbors 04 Black Nighthawk TL over the weekend.



UPC x 1

UPP x 1 (let product stand for 15 min)

EX-P x 2 (let product stand 1/2 hour first coat, 1 hour second coat)

Topped with Natty's x 1.



It took a good portion of the day, but the results were awesome! The metallic flake just jumps out at you!

Minor to Moderate Swirls = 3M Perfect It III Machine Glaze and polishing pad

Moderate to Heavy Swirls = 3M Perfect It II Fine Cut Rubbing Compound and cutting pad
 
Poorboys EX looks absolutely amazing on black. Can't reall adequately describe it. Take a look at Scottwax's gallery, I know hes got a pic of black with EX in there somewhere.....
 
Agree that EX looks GREAT on black, but IMO EX-P will look better on his TL because it has metallic flake in it.
