hey guys i have been looking around this forum for a while. haven't been here in a while. I just needed to refresh what i knew back then about auto detailing and care.

back then i and i still have a crappy car that i can care less for. I am planning to get a new car this fall and i want to get ready for detailing and taking care of the car.

first question, I am planing to use Klasse AIO and SG and some coats of p21s on top of SG. will I need p21s paint cleaner lotion? can i substitute that for AIO or SG or use with it? and using this will help? or better?

i am just not sure to use that lotion or not.

another question is about other alternative polymer arcarylic sealents. Is there any other product like Klasse that is more durable or has better or deeper glossyer shine? I basically am looking for a wet glossy shine. and I believe that klasse kind of provide hard plastic shine? am i right on this?

thats why i am going to layer some coat of p21s caranuba wax.

what kind of sealants or arcrylic sealants do you all use? and if you do what kind of wax do you top of with?

comments and tips will appreciated.

Klasse and Zaino are the two main sealants I use. I haven't touched my Klasse in a while and have been using Zaino more often. Zaino offers a glossy glass coated type shine. There is a new Zaino formulation of Z2 and Z5 out that is supposed to be shinier and longer lasting. It was started by Alboston named new generation of Zaino or the like. Also you can order Zaino online with a credit card now www.zainostore.com

AIO and the P21S paint cleaners are pretty mild. I would use klasse AIO in prep for Klasse SG over P21S because of the oils/fillers left behind by P21S.

Zaino doesn't need to be topped. I like the shine the way it is.

Klasse has a candy coated look to it.

What kind of car did you get and what color? I think color plays an important role in paint sealant selection. Make sure the dealer doesn't install swirls onto the paint.

Jason

wow, sweet car, my cousin has the 2002 Impreza WRX I think, its not the Sti though.

Blue, can't go wrong with Zaino.

For Black its a toss between Klasse/P21S or Zaino. Alboston has a sweet looking MB C done up with Z5. Can't quite find the post.

Either or, paint prep is key. Making the paint perfect before putting down the protection is the main key (even on a new car.) The sealant and wax are just ciing on the cake.

Jason

yeah they are one hell of a car. just can't wait until i get one.

so paint prep is the key? i would assume so. because you got to remove the contaminations, swirlmarks if any, and other impurities.

I am going to ask the dealer to not touch the paint. no wash, no polish or wax. i just don't trust them.

i am going to first dawn wash my car. and then clay it. wash it again with care shampoo.

and might take the ZFX, Z5, Z2 route with Z6.

or klasse AIO and SG and p21s.

will it help if i top off p21s ontop of zaino Z2 to help it? really no need a?

jasonc8301 hey i appreciate for the tips and the info you gave. it helped alot, thanks...

No problem.

If you go the Zaino route, I would

Remove all the rapguard or transit film. Use a adhesive remover to get off all the residue if any.

Wash with car wash

Clay

Remove swirls if any (shouldn't be)

Dawn Wash

Zaino away

Klasse route

1. Remove transit film

2. Wash the car

3. clay/remove swirls if any

4. Wash with car wash if needed (optional)

5. Klasse AIO (you can skip this step if the paint is perfect, or darn close to it, but if you skip AIO and go to SG, dawn wash to remove any oils left behind if you remove swirls with a polish and any clay residue.)

6. Klasse SG

Key step - Enjoy the WRX.

Hope this helps,

Jason

If your going to use any sort of abrasive or paint cleaner like AIO or P21S, forget all the 'dawn wash' junk.

DACP or an SMR, even AIO as a simple cleaner will certainly remove anything thats sat on the paint.

Myself I would just wash it as normal, clay off any transit debris (therell be some!) then rinse down with plain water and go with AIO followed by UPP (Platinum Ultimate Paint Protection - a very, very good sealant) and S100 wax to top it off.

S100 and P21S are exactly the same thing but S100 costs alot less!

S100 available from you local Harley dealer, Klasse and UPP you can get online.

As for Zaino ... some people will use nothing else but if your a beginner I wouldnt waste the $$.

You can get kitted out with AIO, UPP and S100 for probably 1/3rd of the cost of Zaino.

P.S. Good call on telling the dealer to leave it well alone.

:xyxthumbs

You'll only spend hours getting out all the swirls they put in.

1/3 of the cost, wait are you buying the whole Zaino line and comparing it to Klasse AIO, UPP, and S100?

Klasse AIO - $22.95 for a 16.9 ounce bottle.

UPP - $14.95 a bottle

S100 - $14.95 a can

Car Wash - Platinum wash $7.95

Qd Spray - $9.95

Shipping - $7.00 ( www.premiumautocare.com)

Total cost - $77.75

Zaino

ZFX - $19.95

Z2 - $12.95

Z5 - $16.95

Z6 - $9.95

Z7 - $7.95

Shipping - $7.95 ( www.zainobros.com )

Total cost - $75.70

Anyway, back to subject, click Shop and I would check out the E-book. Also read the forums and the articles. Make sure you don't introduce swirls in yourself. Proper washing and polishing methods keep swirling to a minimum.

by any chance what do you think about blackfire polish and all paint protection? i heard and read some great reviews.

any good? whats your opinion? used it before?

this sounds like the ticket for me... i like the way it has deep wet glossy shine like the carnauba but it aint wax.

I tried Blackfire verison I and did not care for it. It had a nice glossy wet shine to it, but the dust attraction sucked and the slickness was lost quickly. A good thing was that it sheeted water. I give durability for BF I to be 4-5 weeks.

I have heard they changed the formula of Bf and released BF II. Maybe someone that tried that can give their thoughts on it.

IMHO Blackfire and Platinum are two very similar products in terms of results.

I've used both BF and BFII on my S8. BFII is a LOT better than BFI but Platinum, which is also carnauba-like, doesn't seem to have the BFII-haze issue. Nothing really WRONG with BFII, but with PUPP available, THAT seems like the logical choice. I'm switching to Platinum the next time I do that car. On your blue (get THAT color!! It looks GREAT!!) or black (life's too short...and it doesn't show off the lines of that car as well as the blue, again, just IMO) the Platinum would look great. It would be a pretty easy system to get great results with. I use Klasse on MY WRX, but a)it's silver and b)on that car I'm more after durability than looks. MAN would that blue look great with PUPP...

Exactly, although I have tried to explain that before with no success. Some people just don't like Zaino. They are allowed.

Like it or not, Zaino will outshine and out last UUP.

True,

PI III MAchine glaze offers a non filling swirl remover. SMR leaves some fillers and should be washed off with something, not necessarily dawn. A good quality car wash will usually do fine.

All this talk about sealers and no mention of Poorboys EX?! Grave oversight. I like the stuff better than ZAino and it's dammed sure a lot easier and less expensive. www.poorboysworld.com

The guy who makes it posts here and my experience has been that you'll get treated very well and get a first order discount by telling him you post here.

His products are really top notch. Do a search and see for yourself.

thanks Accumulator and guys for tips and insights. i think i will still have to do some more research and decide on what sealant to go with. i had never really detailed a car before and quite not sure what to use yet in terms of what i like to see on the car.

You're going about this the right way. Find out what different products look like and THEN decide which one is right for how *YOU* want *YOUR* car to look. e.g., Z looks TOTALLY different from Klasse, which looks TOTALLY different from BFII/PUPP. Those are NOT subtle differences, but ones that will really affect how the vehicle looks.
