Need some expert opinions/advice

I posted a thread awhile back about how I seemingly swirled (possibly marred) my new paint. Now I have pictures. I need to get some expert opinions on how bad this damage is judging from the pics and what I can do to repair it. Thanks!

It's rough but not that bad. We've seen worse on here. Get a PC with a good set of pads and plan on spending a day polishing and that blue will be so bright you won't be able to stand it.



By the way, how did you do this? You mentioned that *you* swirled your paint, just wondering what you did?

A few questions, first:



1. Is this a SS or CC paint?

2. What exactly did you do to put those swirls in?

3. Are the white spots just dirty water, or are they etched in the paint?





It doesn't look that bad, though it appears to be on the bumper of the car. Removing swirls on the bumper can be a bit tricky, due to the shape of the bumper. I'd start with a good wash, then clay, then something mild like Meguiar's #80 or #82. It doesn't appear that you did too much damage, so repairing it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

The swirls are pretty substantial but not the worst I've seen.



I'd say pick up a PC, Poorboy's SSR 2.5 and SSR 1 and go to town. Do some searching and reading on the PC use before diving in.
 
On a small area like what appears to be your bumper it's often easier to use a 4" pad (just an option for you to consider). Here is a source for 4" orange pads (light cut/polish), 4" white pads (polish), and a 3.5" backing plate for your PC:

I agree with DavidM on starting out with some Megs #80 Speed Glaze (mild polish) since that is fairly fresh paint. You can always move up to DACP (Meg's #83) if needed.



SSR2.5 followed by SSR1 as Sean mentioned is also a good choice in polishes.



And once you decide on what polish you are going to use make sure you read up on how to use it, along with your PC first. You can always post back here for plenty of advice before you break out the pads and polish.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I used a terry cloth and chamois trying to dry it after a wash, that's where I went wrong. I never knew fresh CC was so soft. A have a PC and Megs #83, just need some good pads and some #80. LOL I always have to learn my lessons the hard way.
 
Welcome Camarorulz, those don't look overly bad at all. I've had great success with ssr2.5 and think that will do it. Try it with a polishing pad first and if to no avail then cutting pad. If you use cutting pad always follow with polishing pad after.
