If you still want to compress those Wav files to MP3, CDex is a super free program that does a great job. It includes a high quality encoder (Lame 3.92) and you can rip CD's and re-encode Wav's to MP3. Also when shopping for the External HD, check out Fatwallet.com (hot deals forum - search 'external hd'), pricegrabber.com and the good ole' Sunday paper ads. Last week I think I saw a Seagate 80-120 GB Ext HD for $80-90. Tempting!

Thanks i appreciate that. i had been looking for something to convert the wav files to mp3. That should save quite a bit of space cause i have like 2k songs on my hd.

thanks a bunch you guys
That was my first suggestion in a post up above:

Sounds to me like an external drive would take care of your problem nicely, and they've come down quite a bit in price: http://www.compusa.com/products/products.asp?N=200112+4294967095&Ne=301050&Ns=display_price|0#sort1

CompUSA has an 80GB external USB 2.0 drive for around $70 shipped (after rebate); check the link above.

I've been using Cdex for about 5 years and it really works great. There's a little bit of work to configure it the way you want but there's a good help file and forums also at the CDex website (they were down yesterday). If you need any help setting it up, you can PM me and I'll be happy to help you out.
