i was curious if you guys think im doing everything right as far as products go for a dark green maxima..

1. meguires clay bar

2. meguires swirl remover

3. meguires polish #7 i think

4. meguires #26 wax

i heard zaino is a very good product but doesnt work so well on dark colored cars. I am very pleased w/ meguires so far, great relfectivity, adn when the sun hits the car it really brings out the green...

so do u guys think im doing good so far, and if zaino will do better, which products do i use and where can i get them from??? as of now i have no garage and have to rely on shade from trees which is still hit and miss.

thanks

Cris

Those steps are fine.

If you do the SMR step properly I think you will find you do not need #7. That product is basically makeup for paint and if you remove the swirls you do not need to hide them with the #7.

Zaino works great on dark colors. My car is dark green too and Zaino makes it look wonderful. It is a very glossy, mirrory finish and some hard core OCD folks do not like that look. I have used carnaubas and polymer sealants on my car and all look awesome. Frankly, I think even the most psycho detailer cannot tell the diff between a carnauba and a sealant. So use whatever YOU like.

Zaino - www.zainobros.com . Buy direct or ask them for a local distributor.

hey thanks man, ummm what does SMR stand for... and should i still try to use zaino even though i dont have a garage??

thanks and by the way i love deep looking shiny finishes hehe

http://www.autopia.org/acronyms.php It's on the left side of the main page.

Just remember that most of the results come from good preparation and less from what products you actually use. Using a swirl remover by hand is a lot of work depending on how much swirling you have, but it is doable. :up

As far as getting Zaino, you might want to check out www.zainobros.com and see if there is a local distributor in your area.

Outside of that, the steps you outlined are, as Bret and the others have said, very good. But if you want to protect the finish after all your handiwork, you might want to consider #20 (Sealant Glaze). Also, you can take the sealant glaze and apply it to your wheels to make them easier to clean. :D

so i should do all of my above steps, than add that sealent glaze?? and what exactly will that glaze do?? will it make it shine better or just protect?

thanks

#20 is actually not "Sealant Glaze" but Meguiar's #20 Polymer Sealant, which is exactly what it sounds like - a synthetic polymer wax like Zaino. Try searching for "meguiars polymer sealant".
