Need some advice for my new car

Hey all,

I just picked up a 2009 Nissan Altima a couple weeks ago and need some advice. The color is Dark Slate. I live in Columbus, OH so needless to say the weather around here has already gotten ugly and I'm not sure if I'm going to get much of a chance to get anything done to it this winter. I really wanted to get a coat of sealant on there at the very least. I have UPP, Ex, and Ex-p all in the garage. I've haven't used them in a few years now. Would they still be good? Any recommendations on which would work better for that color? It looks like it might get near 50 degrees this weekend, so this might be my only shot.

as long as none of the products have been exposed to extreme temperature and they were closed tight..they should be fine ...give them all a good shaking for a couple minutes each ..look at them carefully and if they look right... then go ahead ... (even if they were bad they wouldn't hurt your finish) ... but any should do fine on your car ... I would probably go with the EX-P or UPP as that color has a lot of metal flake ..the EX would be warmer looking but might mute some of the flake ..good luck :rockon
 
The age of the products probably wouldn't concern me too much, but being in the garage in Ohio, they may have frozen.
That is not always a good thing.:)
If the products will still mix to their proper consistency, I would think they would be fine. The few products that I have allowed to freeze that didn't survive were rather chunky even when shaken well. Sort of like cotage cheese.
Of the three, UPP is the only one I have used. It was a great looking product, but the UPP of a few years back wasn't the most durable of products. It lasted the 4 to 6 weeks I needed with no problem, but some people were less than impressed with the longevity.

Since you are rather limited on time, you don't have a lot of choices. You can either use what you have or buy some OTC products.
You should be able to find Dura Gloss at a parts store in your area and their #601 and #105 would probably be a good choice. Car Quest if you have one, otherwise go to the Dura Gloss web-site and use their dealer locater. You could even call them.
If you have the time, you could use the DG #501 first as a cleaner prep.
IMO, that's your best choice for OTC products.
You don't say, but I'm guessing you will be doing this by hand and those products work good with hand application.

Yeah, I'll probably being doing it by hand. One of my friends borrowed my pc and I've yet to get it back.

I'll go out and give those bottles a shake to see what the consistency is llike and I'll look at the dealer locator for the OTC stuff and see what I can find.
