need some advice, brand new paint job

I noticed some waxes and polished mention that they would be great for black and red cars, or it says dark or light cars, but my car isn't any of those so what do I use? I want to order everything at one time and not just buy the car shampoo, thanks!

No worries about how often you wash, but washing without marring the paint is a lot easier said than done ;)



You probably won't need much of a polish if you're careful when you wash (what with the new paint), so I'd recommend 1Z Metallic Polish with Wax. I'd top it with Collinite brand wax, but others like more exotic stuff :D

Coming from a performance background, that's one thing I don't like about detailing, nobody seems to agree on the right way to do things or the right products for any given situation HAHA. In the performance world, you can solidly say this part makes more power than that part.
 
RZJZA80- Yeah, roger that. With the detailing, a lot of it is subjective...different people like/value different looks/characteristics.



The 1Z line of stuff *is* as easy to use as anything you'll find though, and Collinite brand waxes are extremely durable. I can't imagine anybody arguing those opinions :grinno:
 
I definitely wouldn't lose any sleep over not waxing for a while. Look in the click and brag section and you will see many cars that go much longer than 4 months without wax that have their paint restored to better than new condition. At worst, you would only have very minimal oxidation.



For washing, I prefer the wool mitt (Eurow brand goes for $5 at walmart) and some plush microfiber towels for drying. The newer paint is probably soft so I would buy the towels from a reputable site online. Chemical guys sells some nice ones for around $3 each. And your best bet would be to perfect a wash technique to avoid future damage to your paint.



On the bright side, you can research some of the better waxes used by autopians while you are waiting!
 
Kidney stones, damn. My dad's had four! Ah, hope I don't get them. I've heard women who have had kidney stones and given birth say they'd rather have a kid. :wow:
 
luckily with prescribed pain medication I'm just all numb and peeing ALOT, so hopefully it's over quickly and I can get back to work on my car! And yes it's every bit as painful as people tell you.
 
Here are some more pics of my car, I'm still trying to figure out the best products to use once I can polish/wax my car. What would be the best for this type of paint?
