Need sealer and wax product recommendations

Been reading and searching autopia the past week. Getting confused on products as of course everyone has there own taste and there's a million products out there.



Car: 2007 black civic si sedan with very soft paint. Recent light polishing performed (no clay barring), some light swirls left and small amount of deep scratches and scuffs.



I plan on picking up a machine polisher eventually and learning but I need recommendations for protecting the paint in the meantime.



1.) I'm guessing I need a sealer and/ or wax? What products? Are poorboy's sample kits good for my application?



2.) If I use a sealer, do I need to let it cure before waxing? Is waxing necessary?



3.) Looking for my first orbital too. Is the Porter Cable 7424 a good choice?

omg you are the man MDRX8! I needed concise answers which is hard to get from a forum sometimes.



Prepped correctly = freshly washed and dried because the car was just polished?

(I am currently washing two bucket method with microfiber chenille wash mitts and drying with absorber by patting not wiping)



If I decide to clay bar, I will have to polish following that because of marring right?
 
Prepped correctly (IMO) = clayed and corrected. What was the point in polishing if you didn't get rid of the swirls? If you just want to conceal the paint defects then there are products that can do that - Prima Amigo for one and I'm sure there are others. If you're not going to correct, then I wouldn't put on a long lasting sealant because you're going to have to strip it when the Autopia bug catches and you starting really noticing the swirling.
 
I had a friend of a friend do it. That's why it still has swirls and wasn't claybarred beforehand. I need to get a buffer and practice before I attempt a correction on my black soft paint. It's a 2007 and has been abused a little but the paint seems pretty darn good still. The car is a daily driver, outside 24-7/365, and in the sun most of the day.



After thinking about it, I agree. I don't want to put something that hard to get off it for now. I'm going to want to attempt a correction in about 6 months I'd say. Maybe I'll just give this poorboy's natty blue wax a try in the meantime. I can give the blackfire a try after the correction.
 
Should I do a filling glaze then a wax or will that be bad idea if I will do a correction within 6 months?



Since I'm a beginner should I do a glaze and wax by hand OR, apply with orbital and take off by hand?
 
Schiddy, check out this article: Best Waxes and Sealants. You have lots of choices, and quite honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the products listed in the article. And most importantly, "more expensive" does not always equal "better."
 
Speaking from my experience (and others I've read on here), you usually don't apply or correct anything by hand more than once. It's a real pain and a super workout for just about every muscle you have ;) If you want something that conceal pretty well and can be put on by hand try Prima Banana Gloss (I'm not a Prima schill but I like their products and started detailing using them). The Optimum products I'm mostly using now are very easy to put on but don't conceal.
