just washed, clayed, washed, SMR, polised and my first coat of EX is sittin on the car right now. Im debating whether to do another coat of EX and do 2 coats of UPP tomorrow or put a coat of UPP and then do EX and UPP tomorrow also. Any thoughts?

direkt,

Now that you've got a coat of EX on there, you may not want to put on the UPP, as it may not bond to the EX. I would have put on 2 coats of the UPP, and then would started layering the EX over the UPP.

Hope this helps.

Ex is, in my understanding of it, a sealant with carnuba and UPP is a sealant. Why put one sealant over another? Don't mean to be mouthy, just curious.

I also gotta tell ya that after having seen my truck with the second coat of EX I just don't see the need to do anything more to it. I don't think it can be improved upon.

Yah, im gonna just stick with the ex. I was curious if there is anything I could do with the PC for a final buff, or should i just stick too a MF towel?

I haven't left it on overnight but Steve says he has and with the same results he gets after taking if off a few minutes or an hour after applilcation. My experience has been that it hasn't mattered whether I removed it right away or a couple of hours later. The EX was equally easy to remove no matter how long, or not long, I left it on and regardless of whether it was in the sun or not. It's just EXtraordinary stuff :D

i wanna do a final buff though to make sure I get all the EX off, should I just use a MF towel or could I use my PC with the terry bonnet attached?

Funny you should ask about overnight...Got a call yesterday from a very excited customer...he had just left the EX on his car from one afternoon to the next and then just wiped it off with a mf as easily as an hour later and was swearing...not at me....that it was just unbelievable:D it was his second coat. This was the second hour phone call that i received from him, first was after the first application...
and FYI on another site he has one his old products for sale;)

No Natty I'm not talking about you:lol:

ps a note from experience ..if leaving on overnight ..vehicle should be indoors...

That's what I'm thinking! Just applied my first coat of EX today after washing. Don't think I need anything before (polish) or after (topper) EX. I was a big fan of SEPC/S100, but now I'm not sure I'm ever going to use those products again.

May want to try Poorboy's QD though. Which one of Poorboy's are better?

Hey Everyone,

I have a question for the EX experts:

I've heard some people say they leave the EX on for a few minutes before removing and others have let it stay on for up to 24 hours. Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that there is no difference in results by leaving it on longer, so what is the benefit? Why not just remove it immediately?

I've seen in other threads that there don't seem to be any bonding issues with EX, so why leave it on? If it doesn't improve the gloss or depth, is it possible that leaving it on longer improves the product durability?

It's no big deal, I was just curious.....

BTW, I got the polish and EX on Friday and applied to a small section of my Montero and it's impressive. Can't wait to find time to do the entire truck.

Hi Ringo..just to answer your questions quickly...the benefit of leaving on longer is sometimes in the eye of the beholder.
At this level of detailing the vehicle should be completely prepped for the EX and I believe the quality of the paint will come into play as to how deep and reflective it can become. I personally have seen a deeper glow from waiting longer, but if you don't have the time, it's good to know you can basically just remove it and continue on. This is especially true for detailing businesses who want to do quantity and quality. Most customers wouldn't know if you put one or ten coats on as long as it's up to their EXpectations....

OK, I am tired of reading about EX and not having any, so I guess I will just have to order it. How is it on light colors (white)? I will order some for my customers cars but would it be worth my while to put it on my white wrangler. I am not sure that I can get any better than what UPP has done for my Jeep.

In my opinion, UPP and EX are about equal in appearance. I can't speak for the durabilty of either product but for appearance and ease of use, both are terrific products.
