Need One Step Advice

I'm familiar with two and three step corrections, but have not done a one step yet. I'm doing a car for a friend that just wants his car to shine...no correction wanted. The victim is a silver 10 year old A6. I'm thinking 205/white pad/Flex DA. Any suggestions?

you can try that 205 or . . . . . i have yet to try it myself but am in the process of ordering Megs 151 which is a one step product much like a AIO . . . . . it corrects and protects all in one with no need to add a lsp unless you wanted to.

Scottwax will chime in as he uses that product a lot.

Just used Megs D-151 and worked great. Def. would suggest it for a one step. ZPC works pretty well as a one step polish that finishes down pretty well, no protection though for the ZPC but protection in the 151

D151 is not enough durability by itself if you ask me. Use your 205 and then top with whatever you want. honestly, who cares what people here think, do what works for you and work with the products you have. Your friend will be more than happy with whatever your doing.

i would say use either 205 or 80 for a little cutting ability while great finishing ability. use a white pad for this job as orange will require a 2nd step, and a blue will be too mild to get any cut from...

good luck!

and I agree with DJ, 151 doesnt really have great durability!

he didn't state that durability was the issue though . . . . . he just said a on step. Again though do what you feel will work for you and your friend.

po85rd

Finish Glaze

SIP

FP2

Int. Polish

Nano

You have quite a list of products that you can use as a one-stepper.

SIP and PO106FA can definitely be used as one step products depending on the severity of the defects.

For a one-step with M205 on an Audi (and I dunno about one-stepping an Audi, but I'd probably go with the M205 if I were gonna do it..) via Flex I'd use the orange Griot's pad.

I think some people are confused with one step polish vs a true one step(polish and seal), to me it sounds like you just want to do a single step polish. I recently did a car with just 205, while it turned out decent, I spent so much time with the 205 that I should have hit it quick with 105 and then just followed up with the 205. I think the D151 recommendation is solid, its $7 for a sample size and it will do what you want in one step.

I have the Griot's orange pad but have not tried them yet. Thought they might be too aggressive for a one step. Haven't used my 205 yet either, so this could be interesting.

For a one step polish job, would a diminishing abrasive product be better to use than a non diminishing? Does it matter?

Also....lsp will be FK1000.

This. I used to use 151 frequently, but 205 and UPGP have almost replaced it. You get better correction (IMO) and better protection for a trade off of less than 15min.

The 151 is still a solid choice but Id still want to top it with something.

Couldn't agree more.

also agree with you. 151 would be a excellent choice and there isn't anything wrong with topping it more a more added layer of protection.

You can never have to much wax/sealant on any given vehicle LoL
