Gonzo: Comparing a car detailer to a surgeon is laughable!!

How many years did the surgeon study? What happens to the patient if he screws up? You are in EMS. tell that one to the surgeons!

A mini owner as the ultimate authority on exotics? Well now we know!!

The rest of you guys are cool, friendly pros that had intelligent, helpful responses. Thank you. I look forward to learning from your site.

Malcoll RE: Chevrolet color? Dude, we may not be exotics, but we ain't Chebbies.

Modified Dodge Viper GTS 800+ HP

Jaguar XJR factory supercharged

Trek 2200 road bike

The color comment was in reference to the guy who asked if anyone knew what the color was on that late 1960's Corvette..... which last time I checked IS a Chebbie!

Hawaiin Viper: I totally agree with you that confidence in the detailer you choose is the MOST important thing. This does not happen very often today. If Mike phillips says he will detail your car you are lucky. I would die to have my car detailing by Mike. Personally, I'd do it for just for the pure learning experience.

You can totally feel confident he will o a great job! He is telling the truth. I would love to see the expression on your face when he tries a test of regular good ol' wax versus zaino!

Good luck whatever you choose.

Well, where do I begin? First of all, the quote in my signature is from a movie. I am not a pro, nor do I claim to be. I detail quite a few cars and prep cars for shows, but I am not at the level of Scott, Anthony, ShineShop and the many other true pros in this forum. I didn't mean for it to sound rude or mean as I understand completely what he was trying to express. He wanted something done as he wanted it, I completely understand. I want things done right just like everybody else. It did however come across a little bit in the original post as "my way or the highway" mentality as as I obviously failed at doing, my goal was to infer that a professional detailer might have some other opinions as to what might be the best possible way to make his car look the best. I didn't mean to offend anyone and I extend an apology to Hawaiin Viper and the other members that I may have offended.

It's kind of funny, the first time I read Mike's post, I took it the exact same way: I though he was asking about the color of the Corvette in the picture. Now I realize he was probably asking about the color of Hawaiian Viper's car.

Oh well...

John

P.S. Mike, if his avatar over on the viper forum is his car, then it's a yelllow viper.

Sounds like you're his present detailer, why don't you STAY in his truank and take on the task.

I think everyone should just chill out and let this post get back to it's original intent. Hawaiin Viper - I am sure Mike Phillips would do a very credible job of detailing your car if you give him the opportunity. I have looked at his work (pictures only unfortunately :( ) but from the looks of his posted pictures and the knowledge he has shown to posess I think he is your man. Whoever you choose to detail your Viper, ask some questions and make sure you know who you are dealing with before handing your keys over to someone. Also, please don't fall into the trap of being dead set on the use of certain products. There are many excellent products from several manufacturers that will make your Viper look its best regardless of the name recognition. Everyone has their favourites but don't be afraid to try a new product provided it is demonstrated to work as Mike has assured he will do. Good luck with the job - wish I could bid on it but I think I am about 2000 miles outside of where you are headed!:xyxthumbs

New to this site but I think many of us may learn alot about how to really make our cars look alot better. I am looking forward to gaining more knowledge of different products and methodes from what appears to be a great group of people. Thanks for making the Viper site aware of you.

Greg, my apologies. You seem like a decent guy. I could not believe the dogpiling on a guy who wanted some work done and was being polite and respectful.

Gonzo, I wouldn't tell you how to do EMS, but if you were detailing my car I would tell you my wants. A detailer is a custom service, not a life and death pro like the surgeon. You still don't get that.

Russellp "mine is a mini" A truank? It must be a technical term among exotic car judges like you.

Malcoll, Mike Phillips is the detailer offering his services so he would like to know the color of the client's car. It still isn't a Chebbie.

The rest on this forum seem like mellow pros. Wax on!

Seems to be a "typical" Autopian response recently. I was reffered here by a profesional, but some of the posts are kind of embarrasing. Luckily, most of the posts are great info. It would be nice if people could just get along instead of bashing a guy. Business must be good for most people to just send this guy packing back to his VIper club with such rude posts. I'll tell ya what Viper guy. You drive that thing to my place, I'll detail it for free if I can drive it around for a couple hours afterwards! This offer goes to anyone with a VIper!!!

This is autopia, there are no flame wars or personal disses on someone's car. I forgot who mentioned the viper wasn't "exotic", well, I for sure couldn't afford that car, and I consider it to be on the exotic level. This forum is about helping ppl out, not bringing them down. If your just going to do that kind of garbage, take your business somewhere else.

Sundiego..you don't kow me...you are passing judgement on me from a couple of posts? The other persons passing judgement are 1st time posters (Lee S and FreakZ) Apparently, they feel that being a Viper owner makes them better than others.... I do hope they are the minority over at Viper.com!

I posted the picture of the fish as a joke... are you telling me that Viper owners don't have a sense of humor?

Autopia is a great resource for information, that's why we are here!

By the way. ..I do get it. I have the utmost respect for doctors and surgeons. They do great work when they are "in their element". Put them in the down and dirty world of street level EMS, and it's an entirely different situation, unless they work in an ER. ER docs are the only ones with a grip on reality when it comes to street level EMS....just an observation of being a firefighter/EMT for 22 years!

Thanks everyone for all of your input!

I would love to have Mike do it, but I am not going to live in SoCal. I would hate to see his work all messed up because I am going to Scottsdale. That's why I am looking for someone in AZ.
