Need mobile detailer in Scottsdale AZ for Viper!

Newport Viper

New member
Looking for a pro in mid December. I am shipping the car from Hawaii. Then driving it to Scottsdale. It will be messy!

This is the todo list

Clay

Use the Porter Cable orbital to get out swirls.

Follow with Zanio ONLY! I have some if you don't.

Clean engine.

Interior

You can use the car in any advertising you want. I will also include letter of recommendation for your future customers. :xyxthumbs

Send prices to viperrt92657@yahoo.com

Thanks,

David

Just a suggestion: What model/year car, what condition, when last detailed.

This would give a bidder some idea (sight unseen) of what he's bidding on.

Like I said it's just a suggestion, I'm not a pro detailer, and although I detail for money I only detail local concourse type cars.

Experience unshared; is knowledge wasted…/

Sorry if I upset anyone. My request seems to be what most people do here anyways.... If there is a better way to do it I am all ears. That is just what I would like done. I am open to listen to others suggestions. Isn't the customer always right? I would think it is always fun to put what most people would call an exotic on their resume. Maybe I am wrong?

I just want to give someone first shot here, because of all the valuable things I have learned from this site.

The car is very good condition a few little swirls. It is just going to be very dirty after 2500 miles at sea, then a six hour drive from LA. :)

You're wrong!

Do you go to a surgeon's office and dictate to him/her what instruments, meds and procedures to use during an operation?

I'm not sure how two threads were started for one post, but here's a serious response to your request.

If you want, I'll only do the exterior, and you can take the car to another shop for the engine and interior work.

Of course... we'll have to schedule everything to a T as I'm already pretty busy in December.

Quoted from Hawaiian Viper...

Follow with Zanio ONLY!

Here is a zebra danio, which I guess can be called "zanio"...

You really want to cover your car with fish?

It seems my posts were taken the wrong way. Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. It has been a while since I've lived on the mainland, and if you've never lived here in Hawaii, it might be hard to understand what I am used to dealing with. Here, you HAVE to explain what you need done, or it will not come out right! Even if you do explain, it still may not come out right! I have had 3 bad experiences with car repair & detailing here on the island in the past year alone, so I guess that's why I was so specific about what I wanted done in my post. There are only few exotic cars here on the island, so it is kind of a difficult to find experienced, quality service.

My apologies to anyone who thought I came across rude...I am hoping I can relax a bit once I get to Scottsdale, if the bar of professionalism IS raised in terms of experienced, quality auto-detailers.

I am open to recommendations. Thanks.

Gee wiz boys, cut the guy some slack! I don't think he meant any harm by his request.

I am not a pro detailer either but detail every weekend for cash and have had people ask me to use certain things. I hear them out and offer my opinion which they end up agreeing with. I had one guy refuse to allow me to wipe his classic Mercedes with anything but diapers. When I showed him a MF, he was like Whoa! forget about my diapers! The same guy would only let me wash his wheels with water and a diaper. I showed him Gold Class car wash soap and a MF and he agreed that was the way to go.

Ease up fellas!

I'm a friend of Hawiian Viper from www.viperclub.org I can tell you that he is a sincerely nice guy and that his Viper is actually quite exotic looking and performing regardless of age. He seems to have rephrased his request to meet your qualifications? Actually as a business owner myself I was a little surprised to read some of the responses to a request to employ someone. Is business so good in this industry that it is easier just to insult and send away the customer who might be more unsophisticated than you as the expert are? I would see this as an opportunity to politely educate a potential customer, impress him with your knowledge and lock him up as a long time customer. Viper guys are FAMOUS for spending tons on their cars. Only one of you seemed to step up and want him as a customer. Your less the friendly welcome was obviously noted and reported elsewhere. There may be more Viper guys dropping in to seek advice from all over the country as this is the first we have learned of this site. This particular part of your forum seems to be set up as a meeting place for customers and detailers. It would seem if that is indeed the purpose that you might welcome potential customers in a more friendly way. If this is a forum that is just devoted to throwing smack that's fine too, let the games begin...A guy with a mini saying a Viper is not an exotic? lol

Just so everyone knows....

My offer was genuine. I am offering my professional detailing services to detail your car.

I'm not seasoned in the engine and interior department, but I think I can handle the paint polishing, and yes, I have my own collection of Zaino, as well as anything else the owner might like applied.

None of my posts were meant as jest... they were serious.

I might even consider working out a deal

Here is the thread on Viperclub.org that's being referenced:

Hopefully the good folks from that forum will not judge an entire community by the immature posts from a few Autopia members.

Hawaiian Viper:

I did a search here and could not find a post providing a reference to a pro detailer in the Phoenix area.

About the best I could find was info for the local Zaino distributor. Assuming he is still in business, he may know of a few local detailers who use Zaino on their customer's cars.

Glen Swensen

Phoenix, AZ 85024

Email: grswensen@earthlink.net

I'd be happy to detail your car but the Atlanta to Scottsdale drive is a little rough for me. ;) I hope you find someone good locally.

Come on guys, I don't think Hawaiian Viper intended to start a big flap over this. He simply listed what he would like to be done to his car. Lighten up fellas.

This is the to do list,

Clay
Can do.

Use the Porter Cable orbital to get out swirls.
Can do. I will bring a rotary buffer for the deeper scratches and use a technique I call Feather Sanding to remove these.

Follow with Zaino ONLY! I have some if you don't.
Can do. I have my own collection.

While I'm there, I'll offer to show you something that will turn the surface darker and more clear while filling in that unsightly cobweb-effect.

In fact… tell you what, I’ll do all the prep-work, (buffing and stuff), and then we’ll tape off the hood and divide it right down the middle. You can have a Zaino-Pro apply 2-3 layers of Z2 and Z5 with ZFX, and I’ll apply one coat of NXT Tech Wax, and then you decide which one,

* Works better

* Applies easier and faster

* Looks better

Clean engine

Clean Interior

Yeah... this isn't my forte, perhaps I can just polish the paint? You can have the engine and interior done at a local, reputable detail shop.

You can use the car in any advertising you want. I will also include letter of recommendation for your future customers. :xyxthumbs

I'll do a Write-up and post it here and on my forum, www.showcargarage.com

Send bids, and why I should be your customer to viperrt92657@yahoo.com

Bids? I charge #300.00 to $400.00 per day to polish only the exterior paint. For cars like this, I usually want two days. If you select me, I'll write-off travel expenses and a place to sleep to Meguiar’s.

Why me? I like a challenge. I like taking a diamond in the rough, and turning it into a "Glistening Gemstone".

And,

"Paint is a thin, delicate coating that is easily dulled and easily scratched"
Feeling lucky?

This is a serious offer, but I need to know as soon as possible as December is a busy month.

Mike

p.s.

Below is a picture of a 1965 Corvette that I will be spending This coming Sunday, and Monday polishing the exterior paint. The request is to go in and surgically remove each and every defect and take the finish on this car to its Maximum Potential. Of course, I'll be posting before and after pics the following Tuesday.

LSP will be NXT Tech Wax

p.p.s.

What color is the car?

Gosh! What an uproar.

For 'newbies' just cruisin the forum, allow me to say that this is a mellow, professional site!

Altho I'm in Indy, I'd love to do the car! Your Way? My Way? Let's just discuss the goals. That's the issue.

Reality check; I'm geographically undesireable.

If Mike Phillips wants the job, go for it!

I'm sure he's as good as they come...

FYI, in my Indy shop, $265 complete. Requires an overnight, garaged, visit.

Good Luck!

Jim

PS The E55AMG Benz yesterday was genuinely exoctic, even if it was silver...

#1) Well it is wrong to judge a whole site by the actions of a few immature / rude posters. Let's be honest, some people out there are just empotional rude people. Can't help it now...won't be able to later.

#2) If I were paying somebody to do my car, I WOULD DICTATE what they do. Even a professional has to yield to the wants of a customer. Its one thing to hire somebody saying do your job, then muscle in and dictate how that job should be done. It's another to go to someone, and pay them to specifically do what you want.

And as far as a Viper, any year, any style, it is a exotic car. You see very few of them, they are beautiful, powerful, excellent drivers, and a all round awesome car. If that doesn't constitue an exotic...What the heck does?

Is that the dark metallic..... kind of olive green??? I do not know the exact Chevrolet name for it... but in that light it sures looks like the color.

Greg-"Livin' the dream baby" " You know I hate to sound like a snobbish pro.... " Greg, you proved you are snobbish, I await evidence you are a pro.

Gonzo: Comparing a car detailer to a surgeon is laughable!!

How many years did the surgeon study? What happens to the patient if he screws up? You are in EMS. tell that one to the surgeons!

A mini owner as the ultimate authority on exotics? Well now we know!!

The rest of you guys are cool, friendly pros that had intelligent, helpful responses. Thank you. I look forward to learning from your site.
