Hey gang, I might have the opportunity to do a Hummer (the noun, not the verb:D ) and was wondering if there was anything to watch for like hard to get areas, trim, etc. It's black. Thanks.

H1 or H2?

If it's the H1 don't use anything that will leave a noticeable residue. The H1 has rivets galore around the doors and are a major PITA to clean around.

It's an H1, and thanks for the tip :)

So what do you guys have to charge to do the H1?

Looks like a $300 to $400 job to me. That might not even be enough, since it's black.

Holy shiz on a stick:eek:   !!!! I'm not sure what the guy will want done just yet. Maybe just a wash/vacuum. To wash/vacuum/tires/windows is $45 fair, or too low?

Well, I don't like to tell anyone what to charge but $45 for a wash, dry, vac and tires on this particular vehicle is probably too low. This vehicle is HUGE in every sense of the word, and it holds water everywhere so it's not easy to dry either. Make sure you take a nice size step stool, trust me you will need it.

Most professional detailers do charge a premium for vehicles of this size.

Man I really appreciate the heads up:up OK, what should I charge to do what I listed, what kind of time frame on average are we talking to complete the job?

Dave

Dave,

I really don't know what to tell you to charge. I guess it will depend on what he wants done. If it's a full detail I would probably plan on it taking up the majority of your day. A PC will really help you also, if he wants a polish your arms would probably fall off before you ever get done by hand.

I'm not a professional and don't do this for a living, but I have worked on a few H1's. Get plenty of sleep the night before because it's a big job my friend.

I'd say your looking at 1.5, 1.75 hrs for a wash, mini detail....Figure your hourly rate and charge accordingly.....

I charge 225 for a Suburban, and you have another 1/2 of that !

Take a six pac (not bottle) of gatorade....

Honestly, I'd love to do that by hand......!

I'd go with BF....no residue with protectant,

minimal with polish...(if needed anyway)
