Need help with engine detailing...

Hi guys, I have a new RAV4 and it's new, but I'd like to make my engine shine. The camera's not the greatest because I snapped it with my phone, but it should give you guys a good idea.

Can I please get some advice on what to cover up before I start?

I know it's been discussed but while you're at it, some tips and advice on procedures and products would be nice as well. Thanks everybody!

You can probably just look through the top few posts in this forum and get the answers you are looking for. Basically you should just avoid spraying the engine directly. That engine is clean enough that there isn't any need to spray it down with a hose. Just detail it by hand with brushes and soapy water. There are a number of products mentioned in this forum that will give you shine. I'm giving Poorboy's Bold N Bright a shot on my engine to see how that looks. I've got a lot of plastic under the hood, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this compares to CD2. Check out the threads below this one for more information on engine detailing.
 
I picked up the only can of CD2 from murrays. The :ass manager said they had a promotion and Murrays couldn't give them away :eek: ,also he won't order anymore.
Had i know about the promotion i would have taken every can.
 
Can someone please tell me what I should cover up? I am really bad with parts, when I look in other threads, even finding the names of the parts don't right any bells for me.

I'm a little paranoid about doing anything to the engine with liquids.
