Need help w/ PC

Hey everyone,

I was polishing a car yesterday and had a crazy problem. This is only my second detail w/ a PC. Both times i used it, both times this happened. When i polish, I get crazy amounts of small chunks of polish everywhere, on other panels, on the windows, etc...

The polish still is not broken down on the panel im working, just chunks of small polish everywhere! Has anyone ever had this problem? Am i using too much polish?

The problem is when i got to wipe off all the dust i guess you could call it, it scratches the windows, and probably the paint. I dont know what it is. when i look at my pad, the outside of the pad looks cracked and dryed w/ polish, if i use a pad brush, it helps it alittle, but the second i turn it on, the dust starts flying again.

Im using SSR 2.5 on an orange DAS pad, if that helps.

I hope ive worded this question correctly, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Jim

Yep, too much polish and the pad can't hold onto it all. The centrifugal force sprays it outward. It's often worse with a dense pad (DAS orange, for example).

"just chunks of small polish everywhere"

What do you mean by chunks??

Here is the amount of SSR2.5 I use:

and here is the size area I use it on:

blkyukon, your site on the breakdown of the polish is what I have used as a reference point for my polishing! Very informative site by the way. Anyways, that is about the amount of polish i use, when i look at your pad it does not look anything like how my pad looks. The edges are CAKED w/ hard polish. when i turn it on, dust starts flying EVERYWHERE! I dont know, maybe i should use less polish, Ill give that a go next time I polish and see what happens.

By chunks I mean, it is consistent w/ dust but bigger particles. Looks like Jumbo size dust. My polish is not dry on the panel im working, im pretty sure its just polish thats in the pad. If I use less, will this take care of the problem.

Also it seems like the outside of my pad has most of the buildup while the inside usually comes up clean, is this normal??

Thanks for the replies everyone

Have you cleaned them? If not then that is the problem...clean them with some soap/water to get all the old dried polish out, let them dry and try again.
