Hi, I just recently got an blue 04 subaru impreza wrx. I am having some difficulty choosing a sealants for it. I am beginner and did alot of homework and reading from the forum. learned alot and trying to make sure i do things right at the first time.

with all the research i have done i came up with three common combination that i would like to use.

1. AIO, SG, p21s

2. AIO, blackfire 2 or AIO, new Platinum UPP

my preference is using the p21s wax. i personally like the shine of the deep natural wax. i am also very interested in blackfire or UPP but not sure what kind of look it will yield on my car. i heard that blackfire or UPP will really bring out the metallic paint of my car. how will this look on my car?

how can you guys describe the diffrence between blackfire or UPP with p21s? what qualities are different? gloss? depth? wetness? slickness?

sorry for a bunch of questions. I simply never had done this before and not sure for what i like yet. i would like some recommendations, comments and advice on this.

thank you.

Well if your preference is to go with PS21, then follow it! I dont think either option would disappoint, but it will nag at you until you try the PS21 so go ahead and do it.

Go with option 1, apart from the PS21 ( it is now on order ), that is what I did first up for my black beast and the results were awesome without it being too difficult ( I recommend the Bill North WOWO method - no durability issue etc ).

You can always "experiment" later with UPP which, from what I have read from Scottwax and others, would be a great "synthetic carbanbua wax".

And believe me, you will be experimenting - it is so addictive!

Best of luck with it all :dance

Meguiars Swirl Free Polish #82 to really clean the paint and it works amazingly well on metallics, follow with Clearkote's Vanilla Moose and top with S100.

Sealant option would be Swirl Free, AIO and UPP or Swirl Free, Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba and EX Sealant.

At least that is what I would do.

I recently did a 03 STi in WRC blue.

I used Hand polish, Ultra gloss sealant and P21s.

The blue was radiant and electric. Im sure its due to the hand polish and p21s.

What do the other Autopians think of the combo i used? I do use meguiars hand polish on metallics right?:nixweiss

We have an '04 WRX sedan in white, and what I used is:

AIO, SGx2, UPP, so far. The SG gives me great protection, while the UPP adds superslickness. The fact that it's a sealant is a bonus.

Myles- Sure, you can use that stuff on metallics. Your combo sounds fine.

wrxmania- I dunno what'd look best on blue, my WRX is silver...I use AIO/SG on it, and to be honest, I do it for the durability, NOT the looks. I'm not really thrilled with how it looks. Also, I recently used P21S (over VM) on my Jag (metallic gray/dark silver) and I wasn't thrilled with how IT looked either. It WAS very reflective, but I lost some depth compared to the combo I was using previously (Souveran over SRP).

On metallics, I sorta prefer the look that BFII and P UPP (usually over 1Z metallic Polish or AIO) give, and *I* think either of those would look best on the Subie blue. I've seen some similar blues that were done with P UPP and they just looked OUTSTANDING. But hey, this is ALL just SOOO subjective and a matter of personal preference.

Have you tried Colluinite insulator wax? It is a wax not a sealer but lasts longer than other waxes.
