Need help deciding which wool pad to buy!

To me, there is no comparison. The Micro-Surface pad hardly sheds, cuts better, leaves the finish will much less marring, costs less and lasts longer. It's a no brainer.

Agreed! I'm using it right now. It's by far the best wool pad i've tried so far.

3M, LC, Meguiars/Makita, Evercoat, S.M. Arnold, Edge and a slew of others doesn't

even come close (maybe the Edge black wool).

I had a romatic experience with a few the whole weekend. I picked up the long nap ones and they worked great. Great cut with minimal marring. It's makes medium polishes(SIP/Power Finish) act like they're on steroids without the heavy trails.

It's like cheating! Using much less M105; just one bead down the center.

How well do you guys think these would work with a PC XP and M105 on hard Audi clear? I'm using 4" yellow LC and M105 hardly making an impact.

Noting that I *HAVE NOT* used the XP version of the PC....

I wouldn't try that with a PC. MAYBE with a Flex but even than I'd be careful and I'd consider it an experiment (as in, don't try it on anything precious/irreplaceable).

While the XP will have better orbital force than my PCs, it's still free-rotating and I wouldn't use any wool pad bigger than 4" with any machine of that type.

If you need more cut with a PC I'd stick with 4" pads. The 4" wool cyclotoolmakers/Edge pads work OK with M105 but the yellow leaves not-so-micro marring.

Kevin Brown is an adamant proponent of the SurBuff pads for aggressive work via PC. He has hands-on experience with them so I'll take his word for it (though *I* would use 4" for that too).

When you say "hardly having an impact", what exactly do you mean? Is it taking four/five goes to see any big diff? Note that M105 v2.0 just isn't all *that* aggressive on really hard clear; on my Audis/GMC it takes quite bit of work to correct really serious marring.

While the PC can do a lot of things (especially with 4" pads), it's simply not a rotary/Flex and Audis take a bit of doing.

Maybe you're just dealing with one of those cases where stronger-than-PC methods are called for to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time :nixweiss

I think I was expecting to much from the yellow 4" pad with M105 and PC XP only did two passes. I will try to work a smaller area maybe 12"x12" with more passes I was doing 20"x20" . The M105 does finish really nice but I guess patience is the key. I'll stay away from the wool pads then it seems most people don't recommend it for DA.

Yeah, two goes isn't much on a hard paint.

The 4" wool pads really do cut, if you need to get very aggressive.
