Need advice on cheap durable waxes and sealants, one for winter and one for summer!

Wow!

I wonder why Nu Finish doesnt get more love.

Likely because it lacks depth and shine. Not a looker on most paints for sure, but it is durable. I think most people here would go nuts if they didn't re-wax every few months. Most stuff can make it 3 months so there is no attraction to NuFinish.

Plus you can buy it at Walgreens where fine automotive products are stocked. he he he

j/k

I dont use it , but do keep a bottle on hand since I do 2 vehicles every year where they insist on it.

Order submitted.

Ill be looking at the Duragloss products locally at Napa. And pick up some Nu Finish at Walmart.

Then Ill do some testing.

2001 BMW 330i getting FK1000p.

2002ish White Toyota Camry getting Collinite.

2002ish Metalic Champaign Gold Toyota Camry getting Rejex/Nu Finish.

Heh heh, you have to add that "most" because of guys like me, huh? :chuckle:

Eh, I'd go nuts if I had to re-LSP that often ;) I can't *believe* how much time I used to spend re-waxing my cars :grinno: If/when I ever get my Jag back from my mechanic I might Collinite it just so I don't have to redo that Souveran all the time

i GO WITH YOU!

Simple fact from my years of being around the business--it's not a boutique product, everyone that loves to post about products, which no real knowledge, don't find it acceptable because none of their internet friends seem to like it, it's too easy to obtain, it's price is resaonable, it doesn't have a fancy label, anyone can buy it, so---it must be bad.

Not true, it is a good product, which does provide good protection, decent gloss, holds up to automatic car washes, easy to apply, just don't get it on black trim.

One application, if one "reads the label" first, will do quite well to protect a modern paint system.

It's solvent system cleans off a large portion of what the enviroment has desposited on the clear coat, etc, etc.

Is it one for the "anal" car care person, probably not, but that is no reason to not accept that for years, it has been there, does pretty much as advertised, vs many of the high dollar, fancy label, "word marketing" that so many buy into.

Grumpy

I'd have skipped the Water Magnet and the Rejex, otherwise it's a nice list.

Thanks, trying to work up some knowledge, experience, and build a detailing kit/repetoire....and a low maintenence program/regimen.

True, true. That certainly helps a lot.

But then OTOH, back when I still had the Volvo wagon I left it outside year-round and I was the same way about it (thank goodness I had 476S back then!) ;)

I do kinda think that the heavily layered KSG or FK1000P might hold up outside, but I guess I'll never know.

So, Im not messing with any more paint correction (than the hand applied Ultimate Compound on the White Toyota Camry) and machine polishing just yet.

Im going to use KAIO and Duragloss 501 as AIOs and then apply the different LSPs in single coats to the various cars. Collinite 845 on the White Toyota Camry, FK1000P on the Metalic Dark Red BMW 330i, and Rejex on Half and Nu Finish on Half right down the middle of the Gold Champagne Metallic Toyota Camry.

Then observe how they do.

Looking forward to the test. Not sure how much experience you've had with Rejex, but it has a long cure time, so be sure to let it cure for 12, preferably 24 hours without exposure to moisture.

Maybe I should just KAIO all the cars to take the AIO variable out of the equation. I heard that Duragloss 501 is much more durable than KAIO.

Man, you should have ordered some Opti Coat. - would have cost less, and will outlast all of them combined.

I dont mind being a bit behind the curve. This way, I get to learn more, and its not like these arent well known long lasting LSPs.

Ill probably get to newer stuff in the future.

I like the thought of being a bit old skool.

You r missing the point. You wanted something cheap, yet I bet it costs more to purchase all that stuff.

Thanks.

If I wanted something cheap, I would have gone with the Nu Finish and called it a day.

I also enjoy learning new things and developing knowledge sets and skills.

But I dont envision myself ever paying more than $20 for a car wax.

$100 Pinnacle Souveran...no thanks. $50 Pete's 53, nice try. $20 Autoglym HD on clearance in Walmart, Im there. Missed that one.
