need advice... going to full detail TOMORROW

I have a week off… and going to separate my detail process into a couple of days.



Day #1: wash/clay/decontaminate: basically preparation for paint correcting.

Question: do I have to dry? Can I let it air dry itself and polish the following day? I plan to let it sit outside and just use a car duster the following morning prior my polishing.



Day #2: paint correction/polish/wax...

Yeah drying is a good idea...i understand that you may not want to spend all those hours consecutively..but any grit that gets on the car overnight will need to be removed before polishing, or you will create more problems than you are correcting by *high speed* dragging of dirt all over your paint..your best bet is to give it an ONR wash on the paint the following day, quick easy and most importantly safe.

Sometimes I can get away with claying right after I wash; I then dry the panels as I clay. This works predominatley well if the car has only light contamination. In your case, I would think the car would be dry by the end of day one, assuming your going to wipe up the clay residue. I would never let a car "air dry" unless I have a garage where dirt and other stuff isn't flying around and DI/distilled water.
 
hey_i'm_new- I'd dry it. Waterspots can be more serious than you might expect depending on the quality of your water. The drying shouldn't be *that* big of a job, not as much work as that second wash the next day will be.



And yeah, I'd absolutely do that second wash.



These sort of things just go with the territory whenyou can't keep the car in a (very clean) garage overnight.
