My daughter just got a new black CTS. I'll get the maintainance contract. What should I use to keep it s good looks?

Start with good washing/drying techniques. That's the biggest factor in keeping vehicles looking good. From there apply a quality wax or sealant to help protect the paint.

There are many good products out there.

:) I am kind of thinking about getting one as well.

If the paint is similar to previous years then it will be soft.

#1: don't let the "lot lizards" at the stealership wash it!

#2: use the two bucket method when washing.

#3: use a quality car wash shampoo.

#4: wash the vehicle following the natural airflow around it.

#5: dry carefully.

#6: use quality polishes, waxes and sealants.

GM clear soft? Not usually (at least in prior years), but it seems these later models are getting softer.

If it were my vehicle, I would start with two bucket wash, clay and then seal with Zaino Z5 2 times.

After that just two bucket wash and Zaino Z8 spray every wash to maintain.

You shouldn't have to reclay and seal it for about another 6 months.

She has already been instructed on proper wash and dry methods. She maintains her '93 Vette after I detail it twice a year. I just was not sure of the Caddu CC and I have had limited experience on with black cars. I have a pretty fair arsnal or products along with a PC so we'll come up with something. I have not had a chance to see it in the daylite so I don't know how the prep guys at the stealership did. I hope not to bad. Thanks for the help.

Heh, black paint is *never* hard enough. Zaino is a good choice if you wash carefully and only get a chance to wax it ever 6 months or so, but I like RMG -> carnauba if you've got a chance to clean it up monthly.

well, i have an 05 CTS and the cc is fairly hard. black is a tough color to keep looking good though :secret . GOOD LUCK.

I've had 2 CTS's now (Black Raven and Blue Chip Metallic) and both have hard CC's. The black was a little softer then the Blue Chip is, but the black was NOWHERE newar as soft as BMW 3 series black.
