My Mom's 1989 Caddy is royally F'ed...oxidization, swirls, scracthes...everything you can think of it has it.

I know I wont get best results with my PC but it is all I have and want to use right now,

For something this bad, what pad and polish/glaze, etc do you recomend?

I'd use Meguiar's #84 Compound Power Cleaner followed by either DACP or 1ZPP to remove the swirls left by the #84.

I'd start with a cutting pad then drop to a polishing pad and crank up the speed.

You should be able to get great results with your pc.

I supposed it is a single stage paint, if so, I feel that this first step is crucial. It will cut through the oxidation, leaving the swirls for an abrasive polish. The polish wont have to do as much work.

1) I would start out with Poorboys Professional Polish or AIO with a polishing pad.

2) But if you want do remove swirls, then Poorboy's SSR line is good, or Meguiars line of polishes. Maybe DACP, there are lot of options.

3 and 4) Then glaze (optional) and wax!

My 89 Deville doesn't respond well to a PC at all even with a wool pad. At best, it can shine it nicely but defects remain. Hence, I practice my rotary to build up the skill to get the job done. Let me know how it works out. Hope your experience is better than mine !

Poorboys SSR3 folowed by SSR2.5 if its a light color. If its a dark color follow up with SSR1.

Im with Eshine, except Id follow SSR3 with #80.......Then your sealant. At any rate, your going to need 2 levels of polishes, if you choose either of the above .......(84 0r ssr3)
