Need a replacement for TAW.

Well, the High Temp Silicone Remover/Prep Wash that NSXtasy recommended won. It looks like a very inexpensive alternative to TAW/TCW. Besides, I'm out of pad cleaner. :)

Did you use it or just order? If order, please let me know how it goes, as I'm looking as well as you already know

I just ordered it. The shipping was darn near as much as the product. :(

I have high hopes for this product, though, cause I've used pretty much everything NSXtasy has recommended and been very happy with it... well, everything except Zaino.....:bolt(J/K man!)

Edit: Note that the link says "Silicone Remover", but the actual product name is High Temp Prep Wash. It looks like High Temp is marketing it as a direct competitor to TAW, really. I do still want to try out the SC product, too, but the High Temp is so much less expensive.

IIRC, Grouse or Picus has experience with this product. I have the 32oz prep wash coming along with the molding renewer, APC, and tar remover.

It would be awesome to use on pads too. And by the way, I mostly use fk1000 now :lol

LMK what you think of the product and I'll do the same.

I have used a ton of prep wash over the years and does what it is designed to do. Washing with it *will* strip fillers, waxes, silicones, etc. As long as you aren't trying to remove bugs, tar, etc with it then you will love it. I use to use it to remove polish as it will remove fillers, but switched to IPA because it was cheaper.

Anthony O introduced me (us rather) way back and I have had a gallon on hand since.

You will love it for striping fillers. I mix it a little heavier than they state on the bottle when washing to strip LSP's. Dwell time is also important when using this product. If you mix it too "light" the initial wipe with the mitt will sheet away and the product will not dwell(on a healty LSP). Mixing it a little stronger allows it to cut through the LSP more efficiently upon first contact, allowing for a longer dwell time. When strippig polishing oils from say Po106FF or 205, the recommended dose is great. I would mix a little stronger after UFSE too. ;)

How's that clear as mud information. :D

Fk1 1119 is a good product also. $32.95 1 to 1 ratio $4.95 SHIPPING.

I think I'll get a gallon of this on my next fk oreder. The fk 121 looks like a good general purpose cleanerm too. I like the anti-bacterial properties, too.

Will do, man, Glad you like the fk 1000.

The only experience I have with High Temp products are their abrasive polishes. Good stuff and highly economical. Their whole line seems to be very well priced.

Great, actually, and it's much appreciated!

Greg Nichols just sent me a link to find Surf City dealers, and it turns out there's one cliose by, so I'm goona pick up a quart of their Road Trip stuff today.

That Hi-Temp Prep Wash sounds like some HT stuff I used back in the day...different name I think but same idea. I'll have to go check the storage room sometime, you've piqued my curiosity (haven't thought about that stuff in ages).

The FK1119 is good enough stuff for decon work, but I myself would lean towards the AutoInt/VG "A" for the sort of thing that (I think) we're discussing here.

Here you go: Amazon.com: Total Cycle Cleaner S100®: Sports & Outdoors

At this price it goes for a little less than $9 per 32 oz. I have never ordered from amazon before (and know nothing about it), so I'm not sure how shipping would affect the price. Good luck, and good to see you back!

I wish I would've seen this before I replenished my TAW. Detailed Image had a special not too long ago . . . 15% off and free shipping on orders of $50 so I just HAD to get 10 liters.

FK 121 is a great APC, cleans wheels, engines, carpets and all around the house.

I was thinking of trying FK 1119 in a foam cannon (just need to get my pressure washer lol). I like FK 118, I use this when a get a car to dirty for ONR. I know a few people use Opt Power clean in their foam canon.

Oh, you know me and my big mouth, Denzil... you'll get every last detail (pun intended).

More good stuff... Wow, this thread has been extremely educational. Thanks gents!

I finally had a chance to use the Hi-Temp Prep Wash yesterday. Greg and I used it on two cars: a 2000 Porshce 911 and a 2000 Land Rover. Prep Wash smells like rotten grapefruit. It's really nasty. That's the only bad thing I can say about it.

It's a *really* strong cleaner. It dissolves old polish or wax stuck in crevices, badges, trim, etc. Most of it just melts away, requiring very little agitation to remove the buildup.

It also removes polishing oils. This stuff is quite a bit stronger than TAW. If you're looking for a TAW alternative, this is it.

Glad I picked some up. Did you dilute it at all Supe? Spray bottle wipedowns? A gallon is very affordable IMO. I've got so much caked on 476s from a winter application in the waning hours before dark I'm looking forward to using this stuff.

Cool, thanks for that.

The rotten-grapefruit smell has me  The Hi-Temp Remove All that I used to use had a truly awful scent too (and I'm not all that sensitive about such stuff).

Yeah, we diluted it 1:1. We sprayed it on with a spray bottle, let it dwell for a couple minutes, then put a layer of CW&C foam on by foam cannon over the top of the Prep Wash, then a traditional wash. It worked really well.

Yeah, this stuff really does smell like rotten grapefruit. It's just nasty.

I have found that TAW/TCC excels on paint. For other areas (engine, wells, wheels, trim, etc.) I use Megs APC or CWG/C.

A cheap option for paint prep pre/post polishing is Silicone Remover Its a 1:1 ration and a gallon is 12.95. Also mentions it works as a pad cleaner.

The prices are excellent. Not to mention it looks like a nice sale over there. I just ordered a few things including the prep wash.

Ive been through a 5L of the TCC and only really like it for paint prep. For an APC I feel there are better alternatives (price and performance).

Andy, i must have missed the post where you recommended it, too. :o The only recommendation I saw was from NSXtasy. This getting old stuff sucks; I can't remember anything, and I can prove it!

Supe - I apologize. LoL. I recommended it in a different thread and not in this one.

Sorry about that man, I could've swore I did in this thread. 5 rounds of golf in 3 days can get to you. :nervous:
