Need a good household cleaner...

Something that is reasonably powerful, kills germs, is streak free on glass/black, and won't do any damage over time.

Liz and I have been using Windex with some vinegar in it, but just the fact that we are using *Windex* leaves me uneasy...Detailing has given it such a bad name :D. I was thinking of a vinegar mix or maybe IPA cut 50/50 with water.

Any and all feedback is welcomed :).

We use the Lysol APC from Costco(yellow, @$6 a gallon), it would fill all of your needs, but the glass is pushing it. I always use a dedicted glass cleaner instead.....

Tom: Earthstone counters, stainless steel sinks, glass oven top, black microwave/oven fronts, glass table, marble bathrooms, porcelain thrones.

We try to polish everything about once every two months, but are just looking for a daily cleaner.

Thanks :).

I use one of the windex products in our kitchen where we have similar surfaces.

I guess I'd suggest Bartender's Friend for the sink. SprayWay makes a killer product for SS but it's not intended for the sink.

When I am in the mood, I'll use a specialty plastic polish/spray on the hi-gloss black plastic panels (microwave, oven, dishwasher control panel, etc.). Honestly, Sean, I can't think of a single product that would do all. I hate to say it but Windex is a very good catch-all due to its sanitizing quality, IMO. Ohh, I've got some good stuff for the marble floors...can't recall the name. You need to be cautious with marble.

use a hot damp wash cloth and scrub it on any needed surface and chase it with a bounty paper towel (to clean the streaks off). this is basically free and turns great results, next to using aerosal glass cleaner and bounty paper towel. this is what i use to clean my household stuff.

I use Charlie's APC. Keep two bottles mixed up- one is 1:1, the other is 1:4. Doesn't work on glass at all though. Stoner's for that. I use the Charlie's on counters, floors, appliances, etc.

My IPA mix (50/50) is working really well.

Does anyone know if extended exposure to that mix is bad? (other than dry hands)

Many of the products mentioned here aren't disinfectants.

Clean and disinfected are different things.

So true. Lysol directions even say that the surface must stay wet with Lysol for a certain amount of time for germs to be killed. Using the cleaning techniques that most of us do that almost never happens.
