Necessary to prime pad when using diminishing abrasives?

I've always read it's important to spread the polish evenly over the entire face of the pad when using non-diminishing abrasives. Is this the case with diminishing abrasives as well?

I just started using Menzerna polishes and I don't prime the pad. Haven't had any issues thus far.

I just lay a bead around the outer edge of the pad. It all gravitates to the center :2 cents:
