Hey guys, if you're regulars in this forum, I'm sure you've seen reviews of the speedy prep towel. One of the biggest things stopping people from getting the towel is the $50 price tag. Well now you have a way to get the same quality material at a much lower price.

Here's the latest evolution of the nanoskin speedy prep towel: the nanoskin sponge!

Another thing people worry about is marring. Some people say there isn't any marring and some people say there is. Well, just for you guys, I took a bunch of action pictures before, during, and after to show the results. ALL the pictures are taken in direct sunlight so if there was marring evident, there would be no place for it to hide.

See the flawless paint before:

My clay lube (Ultima Waterless Wash Plus):

Always use a healthy amount of lube ;)

Flawless and no marring after:

Pros:
  • Makes claying faster (whole car took me 25 minutes)
  • Easy grip to handle
  • Droppable, reusable, washable
  • Foam can actually hold lube in it if you dunk the sponge in ONR
  • No marring!!
  • Cheap @ $13

Cons:
  • Honestly, compared to clay, the only con is it has slightest amount less feedback. If you weren't comparing them directly like I did for the test, you wouldn't even of noticed.
  • Compared to the towel, it is slower and has a little less feedback. Again, you wouldn't of noticed the less feedback unless you compare them directly, it's just that close!

Bottom line:
At only $13 instead of $50, you pretty much owe it to yourself to try this thing out. Make sure to follow the break-in instructions and use an adequate amount of lube.

i have almost every lube available to man but use only dodo born to lube for my clay work. i just got a couple speedy towels and found them too large for me and had them cut in half and hemmed and are perfect for me now. i always polish after anyway but havent noticed any significant marring yet.

Thanks for the reveiw! I want to try these after I run out of the magna sponges I have.

To be fair though you have to use it on really soft paint before saying it wont marr at all.

My magna sponge is like that.........it wont marr most cars paint but soft paint it always marrs and alot!

I agree, I will check out other soft cars and report back in this thread. I have the perfect test in my head :)

I decided to order the twin pack of these including both the fine and medium grade sponge.
A good value for the money and you never know when they could come in handy.

Try it on overspray and get back to me.........
If you do then you'll probably agree with me that Clay is much better.

if you've ever dropped a new clay pad on the ground and had to toss it afterwards, you'll love these clay sponges. simply rinse off and keep on claying. :bigups

Im a big fan of the prep towels so Ill have to give these a shot as well. I do agree that they arent too great at removing overspray, but for normal jobs they are a real time saver.

Thanks for the amazing review as usual. These look like a cheap alternative to the speedy prep towel. I hear people praise the magma sponge, which is pretty hard to find now days. Nice to see there is another one of equal quality out there.

I have used the FINE sponge. I was unable to find any marring that I could attribute to the FINE sponge.

For the weekend warrior I think it's an excellent product. Personally I don't feel it will last as long as the towel.
It has less polymerized rubber surface compared to the towel but IMHO the sponge IS faster & easier than clay.

NOTE: Use PLENTY of clay lube on the paint so it does not grab.

Another great review. It's an excellent product! Buy it and try it.

Thanks!

I think it says on the box 20 to 30 decons and the towel says 100, so even nanoskin says it doesn't last as long.
