I just got my Auto Scrub in the mail today and I used it on the hood and fenders on my black 2011 Ford Mustang. I noticed a bit of marring on the paint and I was looking to see if there was something I needed to do to break in the mitt, or if it was my technique. I was able to get out the marring with Mequiars 205, so it wasn't too bad. However, I am leery of using it now however because I've never had this issue with clay bars.
Here is the technique I used:
I rinsed off the mitt and rang it out before using it. I then dunked it into my wash bucket filled with Mequiar's car wash. I went over a small 2x2 section with light pressure, then dipped the mitt back in the wash bucket, swished it around and repeated the process for half the hood. When I rinsed it off the hood, that's when I noticed the marring - lots of it.
Figuring it might be something with the car wash, I rinsed off the mitt and then tried it while using HD Touch (detailing spray) as a lubricant and had similar results. Thinking back now, I only sprayed the surface, not the mitt, so that may have been an issue.
Thanks for reading. Any advice is appreciated.
