name your favorite mild polishes choices and why

For what you looking for on your new car, Id go with the Megs #80, this is what I used earlier on in the year for my car when it was delivered. Since then I have also go Opt polish which can be more versatile due to how it works with different pad combinations by machine. Either with a polisihing pad will be a good mild start to see what shape your paint is in, without going to harsher polishes if you dont need to.

If you want to clean up new paint with very little defects and increase gloss and clarity you cant go far wrong with Autoglym Super Resin Polish or Clearkote Vannilla Moose Hand Glaze.

PO85RD and PO106FF can't be beat for a finishing polish. As flatstick mentioned FP2/MicroPolish comes second. PO106FF is still much more versatile than most polishes I've used. Change the pad and you'll get a bit more out of them from the lt/med cut pads.

What about SSR 1 or even 2.5? I've gone from 2.5 to NXT with no problems at all. The SSR's used to be all the rage, and I still like them the best, although I do plan on trying Menzerna soon. I just don't polish very often though.

I like Mothers Powerpolish for a versatile product but for final gloss the Nicsand discs(or polish) are incredible- 10,000 grit won't remove deep defects but it leaves an incredible gloss

dashotgun- I used Malm's polishes (they also have a milder one) for years. The regular (green) Malm's polish is an OK general-purpose abrasive but I'd probably use something milder as a follow-up. The Malm's might not be all *that* mild...it's one of the products that resulted in the longterm overpolishing of my XJS. But then that car has awfully soft paint. All in all, IMO the Malm's polish is a pretty good "sleeper" product but it can sometimes be a bear to remove. BTW/FWIW, I don't think all that much of their wax, but it's OK and it doesn't stain trim. Even though it's a liquid, it does layer and too many layers can result in an unattractive wax build-up that needs to be stripped off.

Since you plan on using the Klasse twins, I'd normally recommend the 3M PI-III RC/MG combo, but those products are getting hard to find. So I guess I'd go with the Menzerna products. I haven't tried anything except the FP, but people whose opinions I respect are happy with their other stuff as well.

I don't like using #80 before AIO as the AIO often uncovers residual marring that the #80 concealed. I use #80 under carnaubas so it's not like I'm bashing it.

The P21S GEPC is *so* mild (and contains fillers) that I wouldn't use it. In fact, I can't remember the last time I used mine.

The SRP is a product I really like, but it never does any real correction for me, and the AIO would clean off what it leaves behind. Pretty much ditto for the VM.
