Name change...

I am contemplating changing the name of my detailing venture; have any of you changed the name of your detaiing business?

Why are you consider changing your name?

It really depends on how well established your existing name is? Kinda like your telephone number. The more people that have it, the more you have to notify that you changed it.

I was considering changing my business name a few months back. I decided not to since I have built up some brand recognition under Explicit Details and that would all go away if I did. After weighing out the pros and cons of changing it, I decided keeping it would be best. Is there a specific reason you want to change it?

I changed my business name this year. My old business was "Postal Auto Shine" (Postal is my last name), and new business name is Excellence Auto Gallery (we do detailing and used car sales). I wanted to get my name off the business so that if I ever decide to sell it my name is not attached. My original name was not real well known because I had only been in business a couple years part time. I still keep my old website and phone number so that any old customers can find me. Getting my new website re-established with google rankings, my new name on google places, and a few other online hassles is the most annoying part of the name change.

why start over?

I am opening up a shop and there will be a PARENT company name change, but I will still operate under Envious Detailing, and we will offer other services under the parent name. This allows me to keep the high end correction stuff to myself, and split the other services with my partner

I've decided to keep the name of my detailing venture the same. Thank you for your input! :thx
