Does 3M still make Finesse it 2 machine glaze? I havn't been able to find it anymore, but there is a 3M finesse it 2 finishing material? Is it the same thing? How does Finesse it 2 compare to the 3M swirl mar remover? Thanks.

Yes, they still make it, and it's more abrasive than SMR. Great stuff, too, especially if you have a PC or other machine. You really need to work the stuff in so the abrasives can break down, then use QD to remove the rest. It can be a little stubborn to remove. It's a lot stronger and better than SMR because it has more abrasives, but you should follow with SMR and it will look awesome.

I found a big bottle at a car repainting store. It was $24 for a very big bottle (one quart?), so it's not expensive.

Chuckmotor - just need to be clear here - there are several products in the Finesse-It II line - rubbing compound, finishing compound and now machine glaze that I've heard of.

Your comments apply to the finishing compound for sure - but I haven't used machine glaze. Which one were you referring to when you said it was more abrasive than SMR? I would agree about the FC but would be real surprised if a product called a glaze was more abrasive than an SMR. Please clarify/confirm - thanks!

What does 3M finesse it2 ""finishing material"" refer to? I've heard of polish, glazes, etc, but not "finishing material.

I was contacted by this Client out in Kingston TN to see if I could put a Tru Shine onto his 2003 BMW 330ci. This car was originally a Florida car and from the looks of it, they enjoyed washing the car with sand. So after about 12 hours of work I got this bad boy shining like it was supposed to.

So lets look at what I had to work with when I arrived.

I started by pre rinsing the car and wheels.

BMW330023.jpg

Then sprayed some P21s wheel gel diluted at 1:3 ratio to the wheels.(looks clear in the pics for some reason)

BMW330025.jpg

I let it dwell for a min and then agitated it and cleaned it using the EzDetail brush.

BMW330030.jpg

and cleaned the faces with misc wheel brush

BMW330031.jpg

Next I foamed down the car.(Avoiding the freshly treated rag top)

here is what was used:

2 bucket method w/ Grit guards
100% sheep skin wash mitt
Foam cannon with car wash and degreaser mixture
1 wheel bucket with various wheel brushes
P21s wheel Gel

You gotta love when the owner has a lift!

BMW330047.jpg

The owner want the wheels cleaned and sealed inside and out. So the first thing I did was remove all of the wheels.

BMW330048.jpg

Next I got out my Clay magic fine clay and show room shine for clay lube.

BMW330049.jpg

I didn't want any dust getting on the rag top so I took some black plastic and covered it up. I used the Meguiars tape to hold it in place.

Clay baring the wheels to remove any stuck on grime.

BMW330137.jpg

applied some PB's wheel sealant (2 coats, letting each coat haze before removal)

BMW330139.jpg

Before mounting the wheels and tires back onto the car, I cleaned the fender wells and suspension with some APC and degreaser

BMW330141.jpg

BMW330147.jpg

Once cleaned and wiped dry, I applied some 303 aerospace protectant

BMW330150.jpg

I put the wheels back on and had to move the car to the other bay. Once that was done I applied some Black Fire Wet Diamond using a LC blue finishing pad on my Griot's 6in DA.

At this point is was about 10:30pm and was dark out side. So no sun shots on this one. but I did manage to snap some while I was in the garage.

Thanks for viewing, Have a blessed day!

WOW! Beautifull work and I agree about that color. Nice to have a lift too.

I also like how you masked the rag top for protection from buffing fly off.

Darn, I was hoping I could get away with 1 step polishing with the Surbuf pads :)

lol, nope, it would be WAY to Hazy. sometimes if its a fresh surbuff pad, and hazes it up real bad, i hit it with the cyan pad and work the 105 until is goes clear and then the 205/tang pad. It all kind of depends on the paint and how hard and soft it is.

That's a gorgeous blue, great turnaround!

I'm sure your back was grateful that the owner had a lift. That's pretty sweet!

Have you had any problems with the 3" Griot's machine?

The first one i had only lasted 20 min, but they sent me a second one and it has been going strong ever since. so yes and no

Eric,

Every time that I look at one of your corrections, I am more and more impressed with your work. You have been doing some of the best corrections around!!! This was a masterpiece. That poor bimmer was hacked and you gave her new life. I also love that color.

Are you sure that you have only been doing this for a year (I thought I read one of your posts where you stated that)? WOW:clap:
