Mystery stain on new Mercedes rim

Can anyone help me identify the brown stain on this rim? This is a 2009 Mercedes and it's only on one (rear) rim, and it's not stained all the way around. The only cleaner these rims have seen by me is P21S gel - tried that and have tried claying, but it won't budge. I can't feel anything when running my finger over it. Thanks ahead for any suggestions on cleaning this up.

that doesn't look bad at all. Could be from brake dust, though it looks like dirty water spots.

Try a little bit of diluted APC with a brush. You might need to clay it but i highly doubt it. Stain should come out fairly easy.

I get the same spots on my minis wheels it's right user the caliper. A brush and some diluted mean green works for me

have you tried polishing first? I am averse to using cleaners on an area like that if its not the whole rim.

I would grab a light/medium polish and see what happens first.

Well, I've tried Meg's Wheel Brightener, Chemical Guys Grime Reaper cut 5:1, and Eiman Fabrik Hi-Intensity Cleaner full-strength, agitated and let dwell for about 10 minutes, and still nothing. I don't think I've ever had a stain that the Eiman Fabrik couldn't tackle, and I use Grime Reaper on my exhaust and it works great.

I think I will give up on the chemical cleaners, and move to an abrasive. I'm temped to try one of those white magic-eraser sponges, but I'm afraid it might be too abrasive. Can someone recommend a polish I can try?

I had something similar on my sisters eclipse. Turned out it was hot brake dust that burned the coating on the rim

Candor, you know, it does almost look like a burn of some sorts - strange that it's only on a small section of 1 rear rim. Sean, thanks for the 411, maybe I will pick up some M205 on my next order.
