My weekly wash ...

Admittedly this is just a simple weekly wash and wax topper. The truck has DG 105 on her. This was a 2 bucket wet wash followed by a DG Aquawax topper. Tires are simply 303 Aerospace Protectant after a scrub.
Note: I'm not looking for 'show car shine', just trying to keep her as new as I can, as long as I can.

Huge panels & crazy grill! how long does your weekly wash take you (on average, as we all rotate what we do in our weekly wash).

If you want to keep it looking good for a long time I would put 2 coats of 601/111 over that 105. I do not know if it actually is true or if it makes a real difference but 111 is a pure sealant with no cleaning ability and states a UV inhibitor where 105 has minor cleaners and does not state anything about UV.

It looks new to me!
Nice to see the trees in full bloom up there. Nice area. It looks like you have a bit of privacy while doing your wash. Every time I get out there, I feel like I'm putting on a show for the whole neighborhood. "Hey buddy mine's next!" etc etc.

An ONR wash is about an hour. A wet wash is longer as I break out the pressure washer and do wheels/wells. I've also been playing with an inexpensive hose end foam gun along with the pressure washer. To be honest, I like the ONR wash better as it's a bit quicker and less mess in the driveway. I confess that the grill doesn't get all the attention it needs...I need to ponder a brush/procedure to get in all dem nooks 'n crannies.

Thanx - I bought it with 30k miles on it so it's just barely broke in <hehe> I just love the thing. I'm in the country sortof, but it's a busy road so I get a lotta lookers, just no cat calls.

Great minds (and crazy people) think alike! .... I've been thinking of getting 111 to put over 105.

EDIT: I wonder...if I was to add 2 coats of 111, would I do the bonding agent (601) for just the first....or both?
Will 601/111 work okay over 105/Aquawax?

Nah, you give yourself too little credit. It's courtesy You. It's important, of course, to have a good product, but skill brings the shine.

I inquired that exact question to DG and was told to use 601 every time.
EDIT: I have used all the sealants over Aqua Wax with no problems, I think the 601 helps with that issue

I found something interesting on the DG website under 111:

Step Saver Tip - Blend 4 parts #111 to 1 part 601, Polish Bonding Agent for added durability and gloss. Accelerates the curing process for instant bonding. Apply within 2 hours after mixing for maximum results.
https://www.duragloss.com/Exterior-...olish/8-oz.-Duragloss-CCP-(Clear-Coat-Polish)

So if doing 2 coats, I'm thinking of applying the 1st coat in 2 steps (601 followed by 111) then maybe the mixture for the second coat? (dunno)
Also, I'm wondering how long to wait (for curing) between coats?

But...this just might be my winter prep in the fall....601/105, followed by 2 coats of 601/111....or maybe, since DG suggests a wax over 111, perhaps 601/105, 601/111, Collinite 476 (or 845)?

There is no cure time as with applying the sealant alone. The 601 instantly cures the sealant instantly, and can be topped immediately.

I mix it, do the whole truck, go back to the beginning wipe it all off and start again. The only time I use 601 seperately is if I am doing spots/touch ups.

I find using a long handled boars hair brush speeds up washing my truck tremendously. just rinse it out often as you wash. it's also very soft on the paint finish. I usually spray wax after every wash.

I use one to although I went to home depot and bought a painters pole as the one I purchased with the brush was a little short when I am doing the RV.

How much and what do you use to measure and mix it in?

I use a dreadlock microfiber mitt on a telescoping stick - works great and mucho less $ than boars hair brushes I've seen.
The telescoping stick not only makes doing the roof w/o a step stool, but also little/no bending to lower panels and the bucket - WIN.

I use the AG squeeze bottles and measure 1/4" sections and mark with a sharpie. Add 2 sections 1/2"of 601 then go 8 sections past that with 501/105 or 111 total of 10 1/4" marks. That gives the 1 to 4 ratio * 2. Shake well and have at it. That should be very close to do 2 coats and dump the rest. Clean the bottles with dawn, it is some tough sealant but can be done.
