So I did 2 details this weekend, Tim's wife's black Blazer on Friday night after work (hence the limited pics) and Chris's Sedona WRX Wagon today. (both from NASIOC.com and Tim is also on MR2OC.com

Both got the following:

Dawn Wash (to remove all old wax)

Claybar

Wash again

Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner And Polish (DACP) x 2

Meguiars NXT wax

Tim's blazer got Meguiars #34 Final Inspection spray afterward and inbetween DACP later and NXT layers. I forgot to grab the #34 from my MR2 this morningg (drove teh beast-my Camry to Chris's today) so I had to use regular old Meguiars Quick Detail spray.

They both also got NXT on the windows and tails and Chris's Headlights/Fogs get it also.

Here are pics of Tims Blazer

It was dark when I finished, so this was the best pic that I could get

Now on to Chris's WRX. The car was spottless when I got there. The paint overall was in very very good condition. A few swirled sections that I reduced as much as I could given the tools I had (my deep cutting pad was acting up-smearing and blotching the DACP really bad on the hood, so I had to use a less aggressive pad. Maybe something to do with Tim's blazer being done the night before and maybe I didn't get all the "stuff" off of it i the wash?

We think that the previous owner of this car was an avid Moutrain Biker, as there were some scuff marks where a Bike Rack's straps would mount on both the upper rear spolier thing and the rear bumper, as seen in this pic

After 2 DACP passes (it ended up getting 4 passes to get it right)

Here's a pic of that smearing/blotching that I noticed on the hood. I was using a Meguiars "Cutting Pad" that I had used on the blazer last night and washed this morning before the WRX detail. I switched over to my beat up Orange LC pad (that I should throw away at this point) and nothing. I could kinda remove the smearing with my finger if I tried pretty hard with alot of pressure, but nothing with the Orange pad either. Finally I put some QD on a white pad and just buffed it till it was gone, then I hit the entire hood again with DACP on the white pad (and finished off the rest of the car on a white pad too)

I forgot to mention that NXT is great on windows and headlights/tailights

Glad I am on the computer at my brother's house so I could actually see the pics (he had broadband, I have dial up). Outstanding job on both cars. The Subaru looks incredible! :bow

good job on the detail. becareful with those mustard style wax bottles. everytime im detailing i always seems to step on them :o

I only have that "candy" bottle dispenser becausre I bought a gallon of DACP last year at an auto-body supply store. I'm getting a gallon of #34 next. . .good stuff!

thanks all for the kind words. . .I've got a black evo to deswirl next weekend, so look for those pics on Saturday night. . .

and, knowing me, there'll be tons of pics to post!

any ideas on the cause of that blotching on the DACP and the cutting pad?
