Well I have been a stranger to Autopia lately because of the crappy Michigan weather. I just purchased this car last week to replace my 04 GTP...what a change to say the least.

This is my first silver car so I was kinda unsure what pictures to take because it was difficult for me to capture the flake and there aren't really any swirls...so I just wanted to show ya guys my new car.

Process: Wash with Zaino Z7

Trim and Tires: Blackfire Tire Gel

Interior: DP interior protectant

LSP: Megs #16

Nice looking VW. My Elantra GT copied the same blue/red guages from the VWs and it's usually the first thing people will notice and like when they sit in the car at night.

Just curious, what made you get this car? IIRC, you traded your old car for the the newer model GTP within the last year?

Thanks guys

Yeah it has been almost exactly a year since I sold my 99 GTP to get the 04. Between gas going up to $3.65 and just sitting down and looking at my costs per month to drive the thing it just didn't seem practical to keep it any longer. This Golf only has 46k on it so I should get plenty of life out of it!

Nice Josh... the silver looks great too!

Sorry that you had to get rid of the GTP. You're not the only one who has had to make a move as such. I've been thinking about it with the G35 too. But we'll see what happens with that. I'm lucky that I carpool with a friend so it cuts my fuel prices in half.

Hey at least you don't have as much to polish on the new car. You should be able to keep it immaculate as you have with the others. :bigups

Your L32 GP was nice man, sad to see it go. Not sure if they are doing it down in the States but up here in Canada they are selling that gen Golf/Jetta as "City" models.

I was looking at them but wasn't sure if I wanted to get one with the 2-0. How do you like the motor? Does it get good gas mileage?

The Euros sure know their interiors though, I bet it is a step up from the GP.

Either way, good stuff man.

cool car. those volkswagen carpets are tough to keep clean eh. they seem tight knit and dirt gets stuck in them. I had a mk3 jetta similar ti this, with vento bumpers, euro plates, exhaust, new chip, and momo interior kit. I liked it, but it ran funny in the morning always.

I miss my GTP because of it's power and leather but other than that I am pretty happy with the change. Like you I was worried about the 2.0 and also the interior being cloth. I am pleasantly surprised though that the interior seems leaps and bounds over the GM quality and the controls are kinda cool, seats are pretty comfortable. It definitely sucks having such a "slow" car now but really it is just off the line...once I hop on the highway this car sticks like no other, I get up to 70-80 and I am able to move around nicely. I love on-ramps :) I am getting 27 mpg right now and enjoying it.

As for the carpet...it definitely sucks trying to keep it clean but I just quick do a once over with the vaccum every other day. I have the grey color mats right now and just purchased the black so I won't get the worn look as I am getting now.

Nice dub.

My wife's jetta is reflex silver and it's a joy to maintain, you could wash it with a brick and not see swirls.

My Rabbit is black and a totally different situation...

Very nice! I wish I could make the change and sell my truck and get a Golf GTI or something. ARGH!!! My wife isn't a big fan of that idea, but I'm tired of paying $3.99 for a gallon of diesel and only getting 17 mpg.

I got a Golf like yours in 2000, but it was a 3door version, I liked it alot, but it was black and I didn't know much about detailing back then. Sold it two years later and got a 4 door Audi A4 instead, silver this time :)

Nice Dub, I saw you avatar last week and wondered if you didn't get one. With regular care it should go 200,000 miles. too bad it's an automatic; I've never been a fan of 4 cylinders with automatics but that's just me.

Weather wise, I'd rather have snow or summer, this time of year sucks.
