my truck maybe for detailing. SAD SAd!

Well it looks like this is going to be my work truck. I want to do this detailing bad, and have invested alot of time and money into this vehicle. It is a 2000 Chevy s10 xtreme. I have to do some stuff to it, to make it work though. As you can see it is to low. Im going to raise if back up, and I already took of those huge 18" 70 lb per wheel. I dont want to give that "punk, jerk kid" attitude with the body kit on there all slammed. I was thinking of removing it. The only reason I say that, it seems like I hear it all the time. It seems most kids who drive those "hooked" up cars usually drive like assholes and act like punks. Not all, but most and I know middle age people from experiecne when they see these kids and these cars they think trouble. maybe im to paronoid!!



Well anyways take a look. I have sold those wheels, and I want to sell the sound system. I dont want to scare customers away with a 4000 dollar sound system that is as loud as a concert.

Also Ill have to figure out what is up with the rear. I have it custom shaved and closed. no tailgate is there, it just looks like one. Very thin sheet metal. I was thinking about swapping beds, but I can get that cover to lift very high so it might not be a need for now. I will maybe take it off, unless I can get a shallow water tank. Generator im getting is powerful, but very light. My truck looks very nice when detailed, so it is a good advertisment I think.

truck is just washed, becuase the rear and sides to blend the paint was done in november. I love how the wheels look on the vehicle, but they slow it down. It is only a 4 bager, and they are to heavy.



Im worried about having it dropped addition to what it came with factory. Im going to put it back up. There is very very slight pressure, the play is still there in the driveshaft. Once I load all that weight in the bed, it may crack. So it will bring the rear up 3" and the front2". The body kit is actually stock and once raised back up, i never had a problem getting into any driveway etc. Once raised it is as high as most small sport cars, celica, 350z etc. I hate detailing the body kit, it is so low and my back geez. I have worked very hard for this truck, but im gald it is almost done been paid for. Only 8 more payments to go!! I have been paying for 4 yearsl



I want to get a xtended cab toyota tacoma 2wd stick shift 4 banger, as detail truck to. Very good priced and reliable. If I keep busy I wont mind paying only about 200 a month for a vehicle.

Hey man...



My car is very flashy too, but when clean it turns heads (its always clean :D). In my experience so far, I think customers have looked past the modifications (if they didn't care for them) to see that I care for my car very much and know I will care for their car like I care for mine.



BTW: Make sure yours is always clean and the rims are always polished and you will be set. Also, think about advertising on your rear window (I will be soon). Just make sure you don't drive or do anything crazy (it'll come back and haunt ya). Best of Luck!

hey, if you can do it, get an old cheap van, and keep that truck to enter into shows and help beef up your business, going to car shows and such is a big part of my advertising for this upcoming season
 
yeah man i never ever drive like a jerk. I drive like a old lady actually, cause it is a slow truck, low and bouncy. Yeah im advertising in my back window as well. It is to early around march ill have it up there. Yeah i wish i could afford a van,but dont have that kind of money. I will go to car shows to though. Nice ride man i like it alot!!!
 
I'd say your truck would work fine for detailing other than the lack of a tailgate. Leaning over the sides of the bed is bad especially when pulling equipment out... Just need to take a look at all the scratches in my tailgate from someone who was working outta my truck with a belt buckle...



You can get airbags in the bag that you can use to raise the back up when you have a load in there. That's an option.



My truck isn't as flash as yours is yet but it'll get there. I race my truck at the track and am working on building a forged/blow/nitrous motor for it. I say keep your truck looking sharp even if you are working out of it. It'll just turn more heads and show people you know how to take care of a vehicle since you take care of yours.

Some of my customers are cool about it though. They make me take them for a ride before I leave lol :xyxthumbs. But telling people that detailing pays for my car (when they ask me of course how a 22y/o affords a cobra) when I sell myself on cruise nights impresses them because they obviously know that I must have a good business to afford a $35,000 car.
 
Yeah Cobra Ryan you live in the ideal place for detailing. IT is a rich area, it is nice all the time and yeah it is perfect. My dream is to move to cali, long beach for flatland bmx riding, detailing and just sun out all the time.
 
Ya I just got back from a road trip to SoCal and wow I would love to have a house down there! I dont think I would enjoy living there all year because of the traffic, but to have a summer home down there would just be too cool. The girl to guy ratio was unbelievable! The girls are way different than the chicks up here in Sacramento. They are very friendly and approachable in SoCal.



But anyways I dont see any reason why your truck would be a problem. My older brother has a Z71 with 20's, shaved everything, Escalade front clip, and corvette taillights and he uses it as his roofing truck!! He also had an s10 similar to yours (not as nice though) that he used for roofing as well. I think any car that you keep clean and freshly polished at all times would be a fine candidate for your detailing vehicle. I mean some guys on here have Integras that are lowered and tricked out, Scottwax has an accord that he put rims on and lowered a bit, and I got the Mustang! Dont worry man, if youre polite and confident about your marketing, people wont care what you drive. When we call a roto rooter or an appliance tech to fix something, we dont ask him if he drives a van or truck before we give him our address lol!



But just remember that when you are driving your truck around (especially if you have stickers on your car for your company) and people talk to you about your services, keep in mind that your truck's cleanliness is a direct impression of how you treat your own paint, let alone someone elses!
 
The biggest thing you need to think about is how you present yourself and your skills and the job you do on the customers vehicle. Thats what people will really notice.
 
Cool, thanks for all the comments and info. The more I think about it, you guys are correct. Im just really nervous, it is my first time lets say. I never really did a "real" business. you know friends car, family etc, and a few others
 
That is a sharp truck for sure and a looker BUT I personally would be so worried about messing it up that I would be distracted from my work:scared



I get scratches in my truck from lifting my vac in and out, spill stuff on it and just takes a beating in general from loading and unloading my stuff. I would hate to see that happen to that nice truck of yours so be careful!
