My truck got scratched...Help!

Well I knew is was bound to happen sooner or later.Some a$$hole scratched my truck. I've got two about 6-8" long, maybe .5" wide.I can barely feel one w/my fingernail and the other I can feel.They're both white in color almost like a smudge.What is the best route for me to fix them? I know a picture would help but I don't have access to a dig. camera right now. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Sounds like you're in luck. Get some fine to medium rubbing compound (scratch remover) and go to work with a soft towel. Both should come right out with a little work. My personal favorite is 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound. A close second is Eagle One Scratch Remover.

Be VERY careful!

I used rubbing compound on my wife's F150 and burned through the clearcoat in no time flat - and that was by hand.

Not sure if screw is short for Super Crew but I have also seen comments on F150 online about the softness of the clear coat.

I have had best results since with Meguiars Scratch and Swirl Remover.

I would start there first and possibly move up if you feel brave.
 
DavidB, when you are working on a scratch, do you go with the direction of the scratch, or against it, or both. I have a couple of small ones I want to try it on, but don't want to make them worse.

Yes I do have a Supercrew...I haven't seen anything about the clearcoat but I'll run a search now that it's up and running again. DavidB-Is it possible to actually burn through by hand with those compounds? Murphy's Law applies to me regularly so I definately want to be careful. Also, I have 6 coats of Zaino on my truck...Do I need to remove it w/alcohol first or is that not neccessary?
