Hey guys. I recently waxed half of my car with S100, and the other half with Black Wax Black Diamond. I just decided to try the Black Wax because I always saw their add in magazines, and I just decided to try one of their packages, regardless of people thinking it is snake oil. I just have to try some products for myself.
Applying them, I think the S100 was just a very little bit easier. Also, it helped not to use too much because of the paste wax, versus the Black Wax being liquid. Buffing off, I would have to say they are pretty equal, giving an ever so slight edge to Black Wax. However, maybe I wasn't waiting the right amount of time for the S100, but I think towards the end I got it down, and the Black Wax barely beats it. Both leave no dust or residue, and neither smeared.
As for shine, they both looked pretty much equal.
S100 has the edge for beading. At least for the first 2 weeks. I could notice a slight difference in beading during the rain, but I would bet that people that didn't know would not know that there were two waxes on the car. But yes, the S100 did have smaller beads.
Also, the S100 had less dust on it after I drove the car home after the rain.
Now, 4 weeks after the initial application, I think the Black wax has gotten better. It doesn't collect as much dust. It kind of switches from beading to sheeting. It sheeted most of the water today, but where it did bead, the beads were just as good as S100. The shine/depth is just about even. Right now, I could be happy with either for the looks.
By the way, I prepped the whole car with P21S GEPC. It is a black Lexus with gray bottom. I did not see any abrasiveness from either product. So you can probably layer with no problem. I think for the first two weeks, the S100 was better because of the dust repelling. And the Black Wax Black Diamond was better for the latter part. I think that because I prefer sheeting, and the look might look a bit better, along with easier for me to remove.
Anyway just thought I would let you guys know that this Black Wax might be a good alternative to some other waxes.
When I ordered the Black Wax, I ordered the package because the Black Diamond wax alone is like $23, but the package with the microfiber, washing cloths, applicators, and other wax was only like $31 or something. However, the other wax, I think its called Black Lightning, is no good. First of all, it has a strong chemical smell. Also, it is very runny, like water. I just don't feel that it can do a good job. I tried one little spot before my "test" just to see how it would look, and I thought it was no better, probably not as good as the regular Meguiar's polish/wax, and definitely not the look of Gold Class. I also thought it was funny how on the Black Lightning wax bottles, someone scribbled out the word teflon on the description. It could be a good sign though, maybe they realized it is no good and that's why they came out with the Black Diamond, but either way, I won't use it. Oh yeah, the Black Diamond is purple, I thought that was unique. Wish I could get only the Black Diamond wax for a cheaper price. Just seems like a rip off when you can get the package for just a little more. But that's the way it is I guess.
All these things are what I experienced with the products. Your findings may be different. My next waxes to try are Surluster and Lusso Oro.
