my thoughts on poorboy's products

i think im stepping away from the meg's wax, and moving to the poorboy's ex-p. i used the ex-p for the first time last night, and i was amazed with the results. i applied a layer and let it sit for about an hour and some minutes before buffing it off. the results were uncanny. the ex-p alone seemed to have more of a shine than the meg's yellow paste. huge thumbs up to poorboy's!



i also bought their ssr2.5, and realized that it leaves a bit too much of a "haze" (micro swirls), so i used some scratchx to get rid of it. i was wondering if i use ssr2.5 should i use ssr1 to get rid of it? would that be a good combination?

I find the EX-P to be great when it's fresh, but to degrade rather quickly. Plus it stains trim horribly, and doesn't show up right away. Others seem to have different experiences.
 
do you mean it'll degrade after it's put on, or it'll degrade while in the bottle if it sits too long?

I believe he means that the product isn't very durable after application.



SSR2.5 will leave a perfect finish if you allow it to break down completely. Otherwise, yes SSR1 or SSR2 would be a good product to remove any micromarring left over from 2.5.



Are you saying that you went over the whole car with ScratchX after using SSR2.5?
 
I bought the 2.5 and 1 with some ex last year. I've only used everything only once. It just an average product to me. I havnt used this stuff extensively but I wasn't all that impressed. Some love PB products here. I personaly feel some other stuff is better. :nervous:
 
SSR2.5 is my favorite polish. I have never had hazing problems. If you do, then it is a technique issue not a product issue.



I also love Spray & Wipe and Super Slick & Suds. I think Steve does a good job with his line.



SSR2.5 works with carnaubas and sealants equally well. I use it with AIO, Z2Pro, and Souveran with nothing but wet shine to show for it. :)
 
I am sure the version of EX-P you have is the new, improved version. The durability is pretty decent, at least for me. The clear, shiny look you see compared to Meguiars #26 is pretty normal when comparing the appearance of sealants to carnauba based products.



If 2.5 is leaving some hazing, then definitely follow with something like SSR1.
 
since it was my first time using ssr2.5 i only used it on a small area. after the "hazing" occurred, i used the scratchx to get rid of it. then it was nice and shiney again.



i definitely have to get some ssr1 soon. im curious to see how the whole car looks after a full detail.



im hoping the ex-p would last a while. maybe i should have gotten the pure sealant instead. hahaha

man every so often i just go and stare at my car now. it looks almost like a new car again. i swear it looks darker than the carnauba waxes ive been using.

Try the Mothers Reflections line instead of EX-P.



The SSR's abrasives must be broken down properly, otherwise they'll leave marring. They are not suitable for hand.

I have the older (thicker) version, and I meant it seems to lose its slickness fairly quickly. I also got some horrible staining of my textured black trim, which didn't seem to show up for several days after I applied.
 
I recently tried PB TR and it worked awesome on my 10 yr old trim. All of the pb products I have tried worked better then expected.
