My take on the revised Edge2000 DA Adapter (with pics)

Here's a question for you experts; If you were buying a PC this week, do you buy the Edge system, or go with velcro backed? I want to get a PC, but can't decide which type of pads to get.

Pads are a personal preference. People have different needs and different techniques.

If I already had a rotary buffer, I would get the Edge system. The pads would be interchangeable between the two, and the rotary would benefit from the perfect centering advantage of the Edge connector. The rotary could also handle the heavier polishing tasks, leaving the PC to handle the lower speed steps.

If I didn't have a rotary, I'd have to consider the amount of heavy polishing that I would need to do within the next month or two. If I needed to use the PC this week at speed 6, I'd go with the velcro backed system since the shorter Edge adapter is not generally available yet. If my polishing tasks were fairly mild, then it becomes more of a toss up.

I'm a product hog, so I would buy both. :D

I don't have a rotary, but eventually will get one. I see the PC as a training tool before I step up to a rotary. I can wait until the shorter adapter is available. Any time been mentioned?

I am really glad to hear your positive test results! To be honest we found that there was not much difference in vibration with the shorter brass adapter than a velcro backing plate. We are working on trying to reduct that even further with the aluminum prototype but that could be about a month or two before we lauch it. In the meantime the new shorter brass adapters that really work fine, and have been now tested by several DC members with positive results are basically available NOW! They don't require us to do destruct test or endurance tests because we know how the brass works, its just shorter.

Aaron, could you provide more information about this? How should one go about purchasing one of the shortened brass connectors? If someone purchases one of the shorter brass versions, would they also be eligible to trade it in for one of the aluminum versions once they are in stock?
