My take on Terminator Salvation

Just saw this movie today. I thought it was a worthy entry into the series. Definitly some awesome action sequences and Christian Bale did a pretty good job of playing John Connor. I dont want to spoil it for anyone so I wont say much. But overall I still like the first and second one the best.
I felt the movie did a pretty good job of portraying characters of the series and overall enjoyed seeing this movie.

I usually always like going to see "the summer action film" so i was pleased with this one

Any other Terminator fans out there?

I enjoyed the movie very much and would agree with you as far as the first two being equal too or even a little better. It's really hard to compare though since the special effects now are so much better.

Maybe it was just the theater that I was in but I thought the sound track rocked! Director

Terminator Salvation has received a lot of criticism (it only has a 33% Rotten Tomatoes rating), and I honestly don't know why. I think it is a fine action movie and a worthy addition to the Terminator franchise.

I well remember the first movie. I went to see it the opening weekend and was thrilled by it. I still think Terminator is the best movie, though Terminator 2 is also outstanding.

But Terminator Salvation is a different kind of movie, as it had to be. Whereas the first three movies focused on a single terminator chasing Sara, and later John, Connor, giving us only glimpses into the future, this movie takes us right into the future, right into the middle of the war between humans and machines. But it still has a story and it still has compelling and interesting characters. The plot has some holes, and the ending, I admit, is weak and anti-climactic. I understand they actually shot a different ending, which the director finally decided was too dark. But despite the weaknesses, it has has many strong points.

I give it three and a half stars, maybe even four.

The only thing that bothered me was the ending.

It felt rather forced and just left room for a sequel.

You guys are gonna hate me...

First, I enjoyed the movie. The action sequences ROCKED. The animation was incredible and the movie kept me amped for the full 2 hours & 10 minutes running time. This movie is definitely a clicker-stopper when it finally makes it's way to cable.

But...

I noticed a lot of scene borrowing (what the movie industry refers to as an "homage") from a whole slew of recent sci-fi action flicks . The giant Terminator collecting people was straight outta War of the Worlds, the hydrobots were water versions of the captured sand-scorpion segment out of Transformers - as were the aerial combat scenes between the CyberDyne HK's and the survivors' A10's, post-apocalyptic scenes were reminiscent of Resident Evil Extinction, some of John Connor's dialogue reminded me of I Am Legend (if you can hear this, you are the resistance). There are some more that don't leap immediately to mind, but these were the more obvious examples (IMO).

OTOH...

As I said before, I enjoyed this movie and that should really be the only yardstick for a shoot-em-up like Terminator Salvation. I would definitely see it again if I was treated to a free showing. :cornut:

the only thing is we will have to wait another seven or so years for the next one to come out.

Terminator ( 1984)
Terminator 2 Judgement Day ( 1991)
Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines ( 2003)
Terminato Salvation ( 2009)
