My spring/fall ritual of the major detailing of my car fell behind this year. Normally it is in late March or early April, but weather, commitments, and client cars kept me until this weekend when I swore I was going to do mine. I spent 9 hours on it. Details as follows:
* Quick Engine wash
* Wash the car
* Pulled the wheels off to do the inside well and put a sealant on them, also clean suspension components
* Clay
* Polish with 1z Paint Polish and an orange (light cut) lake country pad at 4 1/2
* Polish with 1z Metallic Polish with a white (polishing) lake country pad at 4
* 1z Glanz Wax
* usual dressings (tires, wheel wells, glass, plexus for the plastic)
* Vacuum, windows, light dusting (I need to do a little more to the interior, but didn't have time).
Results: Very nice, the pics really do not do it any justice, the metallic really pops when the sun is out and the color looks deeper (especially after a day), the car has a nice over all glow to it. The paint looks dripping wet, It didn't look that wet when it actually was wet with water! It literally looks like it is coated in oil. Too bad the camera can't capture it. It was mostly cloudy, so a lot of these are taken with the sun behind the clouds, which really shows just how reflective it is. When the sun came out, the metallic just popped up brilliantly.
Now for the pics... again, they really didn't show what my eye saw, which is a bit disappointing.
