my souveran wax expired? Gold class/Souveran test

I did my sisters black IS300 over this past weekend and was kinda disappointed with the results. This was the first time ive used my jar of sourveran paste since i bought it about a year ago.

car is 3 yrs old and pretty neglected.

Heres what i did:

1--gold class wash

2--magic clay clay bar hood only

3--3m SMR whole car with wool pad

4--#7 whole car with black polishing pad

5--Gold class wax entire car with half of the hood unwaxed. After 45 mins of waiting to dry, i apply PPCL on the other unwaxed half of the hood by hand followed by the Souveran and waited 15 more mins.

So at the end i had gold class dried for an hour one one half of the hood and Souveran dried for 15 mins on the other half.

after buffing everything off and inspected in under shade and then in direct sun, i notice gold class actually had a deeper gloss to it! It wasnt by that much, just a little but noticeable to a detailers eyes. I was really suprised and quite disappointed too being the first time using my souveran. To double check, i sprayed some Meguiars QD on the gold class side and wiped and did the same with the Pinnacle QD on the Souveran side. Both sides gloss and shine improved but Meguiars still looks a tiny bit better than souveran! My sister (not into detailing at all) even agreed with me a little.

This leads to the question i want to ask everyone--is my souveran not giving me the results im expecting because i havent used it in almost a year? Can the wax actually expire? Did i do something wrong? All my products are kept in closed closets in room temperatures at all times.

Hmmm, when I tried Souveran, I felt the depth and wetness wax better than any Meguiar's wax I've used (and I've used them all!). Is her paint a metallic black? On straight black, I think Souveran has a slight edge over S100 for example, but on metallics, S100 has more pop than Souveran.

its straight black =T

I also forgot to mention the souveran side had a bit of uneven shine... kinda like streaks but in the sense that some areas looked darker than others where it was applied. Where as on the gold class side, it was a smooth very even flow of shine.

:(

Two things may have affected the way Souveran looked:

1) No need to let it dry. Wipe off immediately. Wax a section, wipe off.

2). You may have applied it too think and the combination of letting it dry too long may have caused the streaks.

I'm a bit surprised with your results. I've been using Souveran Paste for about 2 years now, and I'm completely addicted to it. :o In my opinion it has no rival (S100 is close, but no cigar).

Something sounds "off" to me....
