My second 'real' detail: 2012 Honda CR-V White Diamond Pearl

Hi again,

After my first attempt at real paint correction, I decided to tackle a much easier job, my wife's new 2012 Honda CR-V AWD EX-L w/Navi in White Diamond Pearl. We got this about 6 weeks ago. This particular color only started production in February, so we actually had to have the dealer order us one from the factory.

Since I knew it was coming straight from the production line to my dealer, I specifically instructed the dealer not to remove any of the transport film on the exterior or interior. Sure enough, I picked up the vehicle with film on the hood, roof and some side panels. I carefully removed it, and saw some of the most pristine, gorgeous OEM paint I'd ever seen. Flawless! I washed it carefully with the two bucket method a few times over the past month, but last weekend decided I needed to get a good sealant + wax on there.

As much as I looked, I really couldn't find any spots that needed correction via compounding. Not terribly surprising, since the car was never washed except by me, since it left the factory. So, after a thorough wash with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss, I used some CG clay. Not much debris on the paint at all, but I wanted to be sure. I really focused on the hood, running my bare hand over it in attempt to feel even the slightest particles. Then, I went after it with some CG Jetseal 109 on a blue LC pad with my PC 7424XP. The Jetseal seemed to work OK, but I think I liked the Menzerna Powerlock I used on my M3 just a bit better. After the sealant, I applied Pete's 53' carnuba.

I think it came out great! Sorry the car was under some heavy shade when I took the pics. You can still see just how flawless the paint is, even without a single stage of correction. What a great feeling to get OEM paint this good to start with.

Thanks!

The only "mistake" I made was not protecting the leather better, upon delivery. After only 2 weeks, my wife's jeans left dye transfer on the beige leather. I had to work for ~2 hours with Leather Master soft cleaner + diluted Woolite to remove the blue dye. I got about 95% of it. Then I used several coats of Leather Master Protectant, to slow down the chance of it happening again.

Other than that, we love the CR-V. Very comfortable, perfect amount of room for us, and getting about 25mpg around town.

Wow man! You did a good job. Not bad at all for a first timer . I definitely love its color! Your car looks so clean and stylish! LOL :) It's ok to make mistakes at least next time you know what to do. Indeed, Honda CR-V is a cool car. :)
