More than one person of late has mentioned that they prefer a van as their detailng mobile unit.

I would assume that the Black and Blue item in the rear right is an extractor.
Is the homemade model that you mentioned going to save space?

Is the Honda quiet as to compared to what you have for a generator? Or is there other reasons to change generators?

black and blue contraption is a power flite extractor. The thing is a beast. Yes I love the van for tight areas, couldn't imagine trying to turn around with a trailer on some streets. I seen a mobile detailer in pittsburgh running a honda generator one time and the shop vac was louder than it. I know it won't be as powerful but their tiny and quiet. I have that briggs and stratton one yes it's loud. I pulled into some neighborhoods 7am to detail and I always wondered when someone would pick me off from their bedroom window with a shotgun. I've had a few people tell me to build a muffler on the unit and run it through the bottom of the van. Sounds like it would work awsome but now it's about making it easier. Trying to cut down on weight too so I can extend into other areas and stay cheaper on the gas this year, lol. I've seen most detailers mounted their water tanks to the van and I couldn't find the right spot to go through (gas tank on one side in the way then the frames in the way on the other) So I framed some wood up and bolted it to that and it worked awsome, then again that $hits heavy too :surrender

Looks good. Can you elaborate on the home made extractor? I run out of a GMC Safari van (astro) and would never go back to a truck and trailer set-up. Matter of fact, I traded my cargo trailer outright for my van. Best trade ever. Only regret, I need bigger now. Looking at trading my van and my car as a down for a semi-newer full size cargo.
I'm all talk though, prob wont happen, as I am in the market for a house.

On your back door, holding your bottles, are those black things from a Dodge Ram truck? From behind the seats?

Now you need some window tint and some good shelving.

By beast, you mean size and weight or performance? How long have you had the unit? Any specifics pro or con you can address about that unit. I had initially considered their little 5 gal spotter, but have re-thought that and am considering their wet/dry vac (has stronger lift #s IIRC - and Troy has one).

That sure is a big water tank. You could go to a smaller one to save on space and gas. Possibly build some shelf's.

Not shown in the picture is a box extractor.

95 gal water tank was replaced with a 35 gal tank after the picture was taken. I used ONR for most of the washes.The funny looking colored handled tools are my paintless dent tools.

This is an 02 Astro Van. It will turn over 200000 by the end of the week!

It's just a rolling billboard now that takes me to and from the shop and an occasional dent job.

by beast on the extractor I mean it's very powerful and has the dual vaccum settings so I can use it for a quick vaccum or hit both switches and it has a ton of lift. I'd still be in love with it if I did more work at my shop and wasn't trying to go completly mobile. For the homemade setup I liked what I seen on the boards here with the shurflo pump and the mini shopvac and some hose. Not sure if it'll be enough pressure but I don't do a lot of detailing through the winter so the heat factor I don't really need anymore. I also have vaporsystems steamer so I can get heat there when needed. As far as my water tank explaination, lol it's 125 gallons most setups I seen people had were 65-125 gallon tanks so I figured why chance it. There was a tractor store close to me that bought a bunch a few years ago and had 2 left the guy couldn't find the sheet on it and said well what you think it's worth so I told him probably couple hundred (knowing tractor supply was selling them for I wanna say 350) So he said give me 150 and get it outta here. Figuring now if I wanna sell it I can easily get that or more back. But your right it's too big. Unless I was at the boat marina all day washing boats I could probably use it but I go through probably 20-25 gallons on a bad car so a 65 gallon would of been better. I was laughin pretty hard somone on first glance knew what the "shelves" were from yes they were in the back of my ram plow. I couldn't find cheap shelves anywhere and was starting it out so I kinda glanced back and said that'll work. Wish they were a little deeper but definatly worked out good.

Looks like a decent setup but as stated before that is a pretty hefty water tank.. 125 gallons of water full would be.. lets see 8.35 x 125 = 1043 lbs roughly.. thats alot of wear and tear on the back tires.. heck most of the van itself...





oh and i gotta say it... Wonder Lube... :notme::rofl
